I am in the process of making some new pegs for my bike. I figured since I hacked the crap out of the bike, I shouldn't have the original pegs anymore. Need something more suited to the bike. So, I am turning and milling some new ones. Fairly simple design, D shape with tread grooves, and an inset .223 casing. I will be coating them black, and then re-sanding to expose the aluminum on the top foot surface.

Pics to come today.

As a machinist myself, I dig the pegs.

Who did the drawing - you as well?

It's opener there in the wide open air...

Yup. I have my own freelance business, mostly RC stuff, where I do a lot of concept to completion work. I have a small shop set up in the basement for that, but I also work full time as a CAD designer/machinist/CNC operator.

is the .223 casing strong enough, am assuming its not the milled part, BUT the brass from a bullet. enough there to make it secure?, awesome work btw

Today's progress:

I decided to add this nicely finished .308 cartridge to the peg as well. Figure, if I am going to over-do this "pirate-death-bike", then I better get started!  :icon_mrgreen: I'm going to insert the .223 into the end of the peg, and then create a pocket in the rear for the .308. I may end up adding some amber LED's as well to act as aux signals....why not right?

Hey now that's cool. Are you adding hero scrapers to the under side?
Some say that he submitted a $20000 expense claim for some gravel

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.

So where are the shells going? Gunna drill out a hole and glue em in?
I am into buying bikes that people have given up on and fixing them up!

RIP Patrick Lajko, I miss you man.

Tiny update. Nothing spectacular today as I had limited time, but I was able to get the rough mounting end ready. Going to have to take it to work tomorrow to finish the angle on the end. Then I can put the pin hole in, and dry fit. Hopefully I will be getting a few parts in for my mill in the next few days...would like to finish these here and not have to do them at work. If all goes well, then it's on to the bullet pockets!

I am soooooo placing an order if these go into production lmao!!! post to OZ!!!!! please lololol, they are damn sexy

Thank you.

IF....IF! I make these for people that's fine. Half of the work could be done on the CNC, which would be great, but I still have a lot of hand machining to do, so it may not be worth the money. They would probably be in the 150-180 range. We'll see.  :icon_mrgreen:

Machining is complete. Test fit is perfect. Now for clean up, painting, baking, and more painting.

Nice work, that is still one of the things i also would like to change to my bike.

Finished! Just need to let all the coatings cure for a while. I will most likely wait until this winter to put them on since I have a few other things that will be adjusted at that time.

Coatings I used, in order:

3 coats, baked High Temp flat black
2 coats, hand applied & baked, High Temp Gloss Red
1 coat, Rubberized Undercoating applied to top foot area, and ends

In 1 week - 1 layer of brush-on 2 part clear acrylic epoxy for scuff resistance.

If I were to receive orders for these, and I were to reproduce them, I would require at least 10 sets ordered for it to be a worthwhile product. If that were the case, the base coloring would be a hard coat anodize, not paint. After that, the bullet selection would be decided by the customer (provided I can get that caliber dummy round), and the secondary color would also be chosen by the buyer. The style and base black anodize would not change. Lead time is 2 weeks, plus the shipping time. Cost is set at $160 per pair, plus shipping. International shipping is not a problem.

I would definitely be one of ten people, If you ever produce them.. count me in.  Those are pretty original and the price is right.
