Hi, my name is Mark and this is my 1st post here.
I retired in Aug this year with the hopes of spending more time riding and wrenching.  My "Master Project" is my '01 Bandit 1200 that I bought brand new and still isn't finished!
I was looking for something interesting on Craigslist and saw this '95 GS500.  Somebody got off to a start with customizing it but, from what the seller said, ran out of wiring skills or knowledge.  Anyway, I brought it home on Black Friday and probably spent less than if I'd gone to the mall with my wife!

One of the past owners put these Mad Max style Shinkos on so I think I'll continue with the scrambler theme for now.
It has a vertical license plate bracket that has to go - besides disliking the look, I believe I read that Ohio outlawed vertical plates.
I found a short rear fender that should give me a place to mount the license and a front fender that I think I'll try to mount a few inches off the tire.
I also ordered new fork seals because the tube were pretty wet.  I'll do new fork oil as well.
I'm not sure how far I want to go with this..  I definitely don't want it to become a money sink like the Bandit.  I'll probably sell it in the spring so "close enough" should satisfy me.

Threads like this send me straight to marketplace to look for a cheapo.  Like I need one!
Can't wait to see what you do with this one,...!  Looks like my kind of fun!

My newer Bandit 1200 (only in its 22nd season) has been occupying all my garage time lately so the Scrambler 500 has been on the back burner.  But while I was bleeding brakes yesterday, I swapped the brake lines on the GS for some SS lines I had in the Bandit spares pile.  They fit like they belong there and bled easily with a nice, hard lever & pedal.  It's good to make some progress on this bike.  Next job is fork seals & maybe springs.
Sorry, no pics, just imagine fat rubber brake lines replaced with thin, shiny, black, SS lines.
More when I get time to wrench on it again...
