I've recently found myself in a snowball of sorts.

My cousin used to shoot USPSA and took a sabbatical for a few years to finish his degree.  Over the holidays he said he was going to get back into competitions and I expressed interest.
About a month ago he texts me out of the blue like "hey, you still interested in shooting a competition?"
One thing led to another and all in the course of like an hour I became a member of the local range, a member of the IDPA, bought myself some equipment, and signed up for a match.  :2guns:

That was supposed to be last weekend but we've actually been getting a lot of rain so the match got delayed and as fate would have it every day I'm off work it also rains so I've been unable to practice at all.  :technical:

I've been doing some dryfire drills around the house, holster work, reloads, target transitions, and some light cardio because I haven't worked out in, I dunno, a decade?  Trying to prepare myself mentally and physically as much as possible.
Does anyone here do any shooting sports?  Any tips/tricks?

Wish I could offer something but about the extent of my xp is pinging those tree rats off my bird feeders.

I always thought it would be fun to get into biathlon since I love skiing and target shooting. Never have done it though since it's not big in the US so I've always done the two activities separately and only at a hobby level. It is my favorite Winter Olympics sport to watch.

That's an easy grind, before you know it you'' be Chris Kyle's level, lol.

Do it!  Don't let your dreams be dreams, or whatever.

Anyway, I feel like my venture is cursed.  LITERALLY every time I've scheduled a match SOMETHING has happened that prevented the act.  Bad weather, sudden schedule conflict, family emergency, damage to the range, mechanical issue, no vehicle available, you name it.
So I haven't even shot yet, other than practice.
Interestingly, I think I'm better with my CCW than I am with my full-size...
