Had enough of the 2001 GS500E sitting there for me to finish the 2006 GS500F engine swap, associated electronics and lube oil cooler install. 2001 title, 2006 no title (New York is a pain on this). BMW K1200LT fire that almost burned the house down got me back to the GS500 project. Bought a 2009 GS500F with a title, 10K mile and ran (kind of), fairings damaged.
One day took front forks off of 2006, tires off 2001 (300 miles on them), took off the fairings and installed the 2001 headlight assembly, fork headlight holders and turn signals, removed all fairing mount points except by the lube oil cooler. Going to remove grind the end off of them. I changed the sprocket to match the chain
New oil filter, oil, spark plugs, brake pads, air filter.
Carbs did leak on the engine cases at some point and left a brown film. Head carb cleaner would work and remove paint or oven cleaner. Any other suggestions.
Put 89 miles on it today runs great.
