problem finding first gear

1st day with my GS (or any bike) and sometimes, it is very difficult to find 1st gear... any idea? just like finding neutal in another post, check oil level? clutch cable?

Check oil level and clutch cable first.  But it's not uncommon to have to roll the bike a couple inches forward or back to get it into first.

Typical break in period.  Not the bike; the rider.   Next time, feed in a touch of clutch and 1st gear will magically appear.

Yeah occasionally you have to pull in and release the clutch to get into 1st.
