What's the best rooute for getting tank gasket (the one all the way around and the one in the front) and the little rubber risers?  cant fathom the gaskets off anything anyone is parting out are worth it...

For the front piece, if you can't get a used one, I would say just get a block of rubber and cut it into shape.  I have some some pictures of the piece if you want.  Mine's an 89 so maybe your rubber piece might be different.  I know the tank got changed sometime ago (2000? 2001?)

For the strip, maybe try one of those car door guard, you know, the one people put on the edge of the door?  If your bike gets drench a lot, make sure that the strip doesn't hold water, otherwise the tank will rust along the edge.  Don't ask me how I know. :x

They are fairly cheap parts from www.ronayers.com or www.bikebandit.com

http://www.ronayers.com/fiche/300_0027/fuel_tank_1991/fuel_tank_1991.cfm

Front Cushion: $3.14

Side/Back Cushion: $2.51

Molding: $13.02

I made a piece for the front of the tank out of some 1/8" red rubber gasket material and riveted it on. I plan on replacing it next time I order parts, if I remember.
Common sense in not very common.

Once again, helpful as can be. :)  If I weren't drunken I might have thought to check those places first, but why bother when you're a bottle of vodka to the wind??!?! :)

Just check the exploded diagram of the tank section before you install the rubber bushing that goes on the front of the tank.

I think it is part #7 on the BikeBandit diagram of the tank components. The rubber bushing attaches to the fram then the front hood deally slides onto both sides of the bushing.

If the orignal is there you will see right away...if it not...dont be like me and put on the wrong spot. YOur tank will seems like it fits alright but will still wobble.
