for almost a year i don't think we had any problems, then one day heather kept trying to get her bike in neutral, and couldn't, finally we figured out it was in neutral, and the light had just burned out, so we replaced it, it worked again, eventually it burned out, i think we may have replaced it 3 times now, any of you guys think of a reason that that one light would keep going out when none of the other ones do?? i'm not even sure where to start

Assuming that it's the bulb, where did you get the bulb from?
Make sure that the bulb is burned and did not just come loose and lost contact.  I can't see anything electrical causing the problem 12 V is 12 volt.
If you got the bulb in the auto parts store get one from Suzuki.
I replaced some of the instrument bulbs at about 6K when one of them burned out and have not had a problem since.  The parts guy said that the bulbs that came with the bike burned out a lot earlier than the replacement bulbs.

Yeah get suzuki OEM bulbs. Or get bulbs for European cars rated for 15V.

What's the number of the bulb you've been using as a replacement?  I believe it should be a number 158.

not sure, i'll be working on heathers bike tomorrow, so i'll take a better look then, it's just weird because the turn signal light and the high beam light works fine, it's just the neutral one, so maybe i'll look into a better bulb, i figured they were pretty standard, that's just a pretty annoying bulb to have go, cause she can never tell when she's in neutral,
