I was just wondering what kind of aftermarket exhausts I can get for my 2001 gs500e? Also, where can I get them?

Thanks, BigTwin

Vance&Hines and Yoshimura seem to be the fav's around here, and i know the V&H sounds bloody nice(go to the mods page and to the V&H exhaust part and you can download clips). Plus it's cheaper.

There are other exhausts out there, but i don't know about any really off the top of my head. Search through the postings, and use search engines.

Hope this helps.

I own a 2002 and i have looked alot into exhaust and i found that for the prices the V&H is for me but, i want the full system.  If you just want a slip on i think you can weld on alot .  If you do a search on the message board you will find alot of threads about different exhausts.

If you think the V&H is what you want try Starcycle.com
http://starcycle.com//street/vance_suzuki.html
That is the cheepest i have found right now.

As far as a jet kit for our years you can get one at
http://factorypro.com/
and it includes needles.  Or you can just buy jets and repace them and use washers for the stock needls.

I hope this helps

I am a complete noob, what jet setting should I use since I'm buying the V&H Supersport full system?

Also, should I get the K&N oem replacement filter or something else?

Links would be great, and sorry for being a dumb noob.

By the way I'm about to buy an '01 GS500E with only 162 miles on it, I'm soo pumped.

THANKS, and this forum rules!!

I am looking to get the factory pro kit(no drilling) and I'm not to sure about what kind of setting I should be using with the V&H SS exhaust. On the website I'm getting the exhaust from it says up to 98, will it fit my 01?

Also, I'm not sure about filters either, do I want the K&N oem replacement or some other kind?

Again I have no idea what goes where on a bike yet, so you guys are a big help.

THANKS for your support, BigTwin

Some folks around here have the K&N OEM replacement. But if you really want to unleash the power, you may want to look at K&N's pod filters(i think that's the name.. they're referred to as "skeeter catchers" or something like that sometimes). The plus to K&N is that it's reusable with a good cleaning.

Search through the forum, and you might want to try Pantablo's website. Lots of good info here.

Hope this helps.

So if I go with the k&n pod filter and the V&H exhaust, which factory pro jet setting should I use?

OK Factory kits are non drill yes... but so is the DIY jetting formula...
K&N Podd in place of the air box and pipe = 40 pilots 150 mains and 1 #4 washer under needle... and 3 turns on mix screw.
Factory might be stage 3 or config 30...
Cool.

I have called and talked to the factroy pro guys, you can too if you want.  Currently no one makes a jet kit that will allow for a pod filter on the 01-02 so you will have to do the home made thing.  The quyes at factroy pro said that he has only rejetted one with a stock filter and a new pipe. He can probably give you those jett settings. his kit should allow for the drop in k&n filter also but you will have to do some guess and check work which is what i plan to do this winter.  Unless some one here has the correct formula for the drop in filter and can supply it to you.  I an new to this jetting thing too so i am just repeting what i have heard.
