what would cause this?  I think it might only be when it's running; but I'm not sure.

do you have to replace the fuse each time? The bike has a safety switch on the kickstand, when running and in gear, if you put the kickstand down, the bike will die.

hmm... actually it might be that I put the kickstand down; then hooked it up to a charger and the batt charger blew the fuse...

Something would have to be shorted to blow the charger fuse. Did you disconnect the neg. terminal before hooking the charger up?

no.. I hooked the pos terminal to pos on battery, then attached the negative to a ground (a place where the seats rests and rubbed off the paint)

Maybe too high of an amperage on the charger?  That would have to be SOME charger, though...!

I guess you've put in the spare fuse?  Any further problems?

Very strange. :dunno:

When using an external charger, there is, normally, no path for current to flow through the fuse.

However, if for some reason, the ignition was left on, then there would be a path for current flow through the fuse to the lights.

In addition, if the transmission was in neutral and the engine stop switch was on, then the there would also be a connection to the ignition circuit, regardless of the position of the sidestand.

Like I said, Very strange. :dunno:

Is the bike doing anythin else strange, like battery not charging?

wait wait wait... when I use the charger on the bike it blows the BIKES fuse... not the charger's fuse...... But now that the batt's charged I guess it's okay

seems to be... the old battery was totally dead.  The new one seems okay thus far.  I HAVE to run the engine on prime all the time.

It might have a vacuum line hooked up wrong ... right carb to lower petcock.
