Getting the first service done independently, what parts?

I called around today to check on prices for the initial service on my '04 GS500 F. Everybody was giving me quotes of $200 and upwards, but a guy and a dealership recommended me to someone named CW located in Thousand Oaks (his website is http://www.wrenchwhore.com). I called him up and he seemed like he was very nice and very knowledgeable. He works out of his garage (has been in business for over 15 years) and he said he will do it for under $100 and I can stay there and watch him and he will show me how to do everything. All I have to do is buy the parts.

My question: What parts do I need for the first service? What will he need to do an adequate job?

Thank you,

my first service was an oil change and lube of the controls and adjusting of the chain.

However they do suggest a valve check after breakin. Most often all you need to do is an oil change, a lube of chain with some chain lube and check all cables and stuff like lights and tire pressure.
