i got a pair of ebcs ina caliper i baught they are pretty rough feeling kinda like hard sandpaper is that normal.  They look to have alot of life left are they the red sintered pads? and will they eat up my rotor badly?

I just got a new set of EBC organic and the pad is black (or very dark green--I am slightly color blind) with black metal plates.  Dunno if the sintered pads are also black, although they look like a lighter sand color with red metal plates according to the pics on EBC website.  And also, the sintered pads seem to have separated (segmented) pads.

The sintered pads, although have very good grip, will chew up your rotor, or so I have heard.  Take out the pads and see if there is any markings on them (there should be).  My old pads have "EBC KEVLAR" printed on at least one side.

Just my $0.02.  And I am no brake expert by any measure.  In fact, my brake pads used to just fall off...

Cheers,
e.

If they are sintered pads you will clearly see a kind of grainy appearance where the metal bits (to conduct the heat) and the friction material are mixed.
