Bob just recently did my advance...took a week, and he does an EXCELLENT job, I couldn't even tell he did something to the rotor, the fill, the new slot, painted black, all top notch- if you told me it was V&H advancer I'd believe you...and I notice the low end response, a bit quicker on the throttle, not as much hesitation...and with a V&H exhaust, I'm even noticing a bit more "burbling" at deceleration...not that I mind, it's just something a bit different. THANKS BOB!

Interested in this. Since I have to give you my rotor, just wondering what the turn around time is.

Generally a week from the time you send it. ;)

Bob, just checking to see if this offer is still open, and if it's still 5 bucks since the shipping costs may have gone up

Bob,

You mentioned that you cannot do the mod on a newer GS. Does that include the 2005 model? Just curious, if you can than I am wicked interested.

Cheers,

I believe anything newer than 2001 has the newer style rotor. If you take the cover off and it has just 1 tab that spins past 2 ignition pickups, I CAN modify that.
The newer style has 1 ignition pickup and the rotor has a bunch of tabs on it. NO CAN DO! :dunno_white:
You might be able to move the backing plate, by slotting the mounting holes and rotating it forward. ;)

I just wanted to let everybody know, I had the opportunity to meet Bob in person last week.  I was on a road trip that took me through Salinas, and he generously took time out of his day to do TWO ignition advancers for me on the spot when I got there.  First of all, Bob left his work site to come and do this for me, taking a couple hours out of his day to do me a favor so me and my buddy wouldn't have to be without our bikes.  He's got an incredible set-up in his garage, all the right machinery and tools to do this job professionally.  The equipment must've cost a ton, and he is extremely precise, careful, and patient at his work, measuring again and again and again to make sure things are crafted correctly; an obvious true craftsman.  The finished product is indistinguishable from retail, and a testament to his level of care.

I wanted to stress that, even with all the right equipment set up like a production line, it took him over 40 minutes of hard work to do each one.  So I would strongly urge you to send Bob more than $5 for his time and labor, as I'm sure many of you would pay the full cost of a V&H if they were still making them.  I noticed a big difference in the low end of my California bike, and found that I didn't have to downshift to 1st when making slower turns, parking lots are less annoying, and I could pull away smoothly at 2,500 RPM instead of bogging like before, which IMO makes it a safer more predictable bike for this beginner.  Bob's happy to do it for $5 and doesn't seem comfortable asking for more than shipping, but he shared with me his desire to re-ignite his racing career (he's put in a couple champion seasons but took last season off).  It's an expensive thing to do, but it's his passion, so if you can afford to chip in more than $5, I'm sure he'd appreciate it.

 Bob!  Thanks for my custom Broussard advancer.

BobB is da man!

Someday I will get around to sending him several more rotors. I will have a little extra something in the box for him.

I've been running one of bob's advancers for a few years and it's great.  the quality is top notch.  I've never been fortunate enough to actually meet Bob but we've exchanged enough dialogue (him helping me out) for me to know that he's a stand up guy and another one of those dying breeds that we could learn a lot from.  thanks again bob - you are definitely the man!

Aussie GS: How is it going? How much difference does it make?

Bob: Are you still able to send them to AU? I can paypal you for the trouble.

It revs up much easier, getting you into the powerband much sooner, and it makes the throttle much more responsive.

OK, I'm sold. I'd like to purchase one (can't have my commuter down a week) from you if I could. Or send a deposit for a modified one until I can swap them. Guess I'm PM you about it.  :thumb:

Hi Bob.
I know that in the beginning of this post you said you can't mod the F version's ignition advancer. But since it's been four years since that statement I'd like to ask if you now can modify the 04's advancer? or if you know how to do that and could share the method with me. my father works in a auto body shop and he's got the appropriate tools I believe. I just need some instructions hotw to perform this modification.
thank you very much in advance

+1. I was very impressed with my new ignition advancer. All painted and ready to go. Works great, and for just 5 bucks! You don't find honest people like that just anywhere.

Did anyone with the 2001-08 American 5 degree ignition upgrade to an overseas 12 degree part with success?

is there a way to tell if you have a 5 degree or 12 degree ignition rotor?

I read somewhere that the Euro or Uk bikes are allready Advanced , its just the US models that need to have the mod done
