That's what happened to my bike today.

I was travelling down the street when the battery sudden;y died. This was followed by the engine becoming extremely sluggish, with the revs hanging around 2k. I head a lot of popping inside my gas tank, and then some REALLY loud backfires.

I put some gumout in the gas tank earlier this week, but I don't know if that has anything to with this problem.

All these problems on my bike are getting SO frustrating. Thanks in advance for any help.

Major electrical problem (duh!)

The backfires were caused by ignition being at least partly gone, so was the sluggish response.

Regulator failure?

How did the dying battery show it was dead?

I stil don't know what is going on...I guess I'll assume the alternator is dead, but I'll charge the battery and see if anything will improve.

But, today when I went to check up the bike, a huge pool of gasoline was underneath the bike.
