I dont have personal experience, but everyone I have spoken to about the Icon gear has nothing to say but good things.
It seems its very well made gear that is designed to be practical, and apeal to those people that usually dont wear full gear.

I have summer gear (Firstgear Mesh pants and jacket) and I have winter gear (Firstgear sport pants, overpants, and jacket).  My problem is that when I leave to work in the morning it is between 32 to 40 degrees F.  By 2:00 pm it is 76 degrees.  I was thinking I can wear some knee and shin protection when I go to lunch or run errands.  My speed normally doesn't reach past 45 - 50 mph.  I thought this could be an alternative for work.  I can't carry all my gear around for this weather fluctuation.

We dont quite have that much of an extreme weather fluctiation, but I am moving to Phoenix for school.
I think I am gonna invest in the Field armor... IE; the shorts, knee armor and maybe some jeans.
I am hoping that this will work, and from what I have heard I think it will.

If you want a more broad opinion, post this @ www.sportbikes.ws
There are alot of riders on there, and someone is sure to have first hand experience.

Thanks ... If you are ever in the urge to visit close to the border .... look me up.

I didn't read much past this yet so some one may have said this already, and i'm not sure how this applys to the topic but.  I use the joe rocket Alter ego Jacket and balistic pants. i'm not going to get on a soap box so e-mail me or pm me if you want to know more. I'll just say this, I ride regulrly in all kinds of weather and with a few zips here and there i can go from rain to snow to 100 deg. weather without the need for a tank bag, backpack or stuffing expencive gear under seat. and i can ajust the level of padding to the style of riding or other need.

I love my rocket jacket but I have the Icon hooligan gloves. thare too short for cooler weather but i love them. I can post a pic of how well they held together during my 50 mph dry pavement slide if someone will tell me how. The glove is still in a condition that i don't question it's ability to protect me again ( knock on wood ). If you haven't already done so I would advise having Icon send you a mag of the whole line of gear.
I also bought the Alliance helmet for my wife, while the Icon helmets don't fit my head very well she likes it a lot... just rember you get what you pay for.

I have a joe rocket  jacket and I was hit in march head on by a 76 year old lady she crossed into my lane. :x    that jacket saved me big time.   every place that jacket covered was fine the rest of me a differnt story I will never ride without a good jacket again.
The old lady never even got a ticket that is the aarp looking out for us.

I'm thinking about buying the full set for summer. I usually just ride in jeans... But I might get the kneepads and the shorts (I saw a pic of some guys roadrashed rear end wearing just jeans  :o ).

I kind of want some elbow pads or something though. I'd probably only wear the shorts when I went to "ride" ride though.

It gets so hot down here in Houston and Galveston. I literally have to remove my Joe Rocket MESH jacket when I get stuck in traffic with 120% humidity or so and 105 degrees + mine and others engines. With no breeze.

So you'll have to excuse me if I don't wear full leathers when I ride in the summer. If I wore leather I'd probably get heat stroke, cause some days the mesh almost gets you there. But don't get me wrong, I love my skin.

instead of taking your jacket off, consider wearing a cooling vest

I run all Icon gear.  Icon Scorpion Mainframe helmet, icon gloves, and jackets. . .  I have the TiMax, Timax mesh, AND the field armor.  Suggestion.  I'd rather wear the Timax mesh, if you're worried about cooling. . .  Cuz the field armor don't really do anything but protect ur back and chest.  Ur elbows are still exposed, and so on.  Oh and plus, it kinda looks ghey  when you have just the jacket on.  Kinda like a scene from the Terminator. .  :?   maybe it's just me, cuz I'm hella scrony.  Plus, if u have clothes under it, it makes u ahve a wierd stance..  hahahhahahah..  If you want warm mornings and cooler riding for the afternoon, get the regular Timax jacket.  It has a fleece lining, and close up all the zippers, keeps you nice and warm.  Take the fleece lining off, and open up all the vents, and it's comfortable in 90 degree weather (well, as comfy as you can get at 90 degs.)
