I'm putting my buddies bike back togetehr aftera  low-side, and I have an extra piece of tubing that looks like fuel hose left over.  I've got all the fuel lines run to the petcock from the tank and fromt he petcock to the carb.  I also have the drain line formt he airbox out the bottom and the line from the head to the airbox.  I can NOT find where this hose goes, and it's about to drive me out of my mind.  It's about a foot long, and pretty much straight.  Any ideas??  PLEEEEEEEEZE?

Vent line off the T at the top rear of the carbs (airbox side of carbs-goes between carb bodies...)....

Where's Kerry with a pic...Hehehehe

Yeah that was me.    One of my rides

I think Jared is right, but check the diagram on the Fuel Hose Routing page.  If it's the one we think it is, it just vents to the calm airspace behind the battery box.

OK, indeed I had a hose run wrong.  So then where does the drain hose that drops out the bottom of the frame connect to the carbs?  Like an idiot (even though I printed off Kerry's diagram and photos) I connected that tot he top T.  So now that the top T is connected to the line that lays over the airbox, where does this other one go to?  Thanks for all the help guys.  I LOVE having people that know what they're talking about.

I know of 3 hoses that "drop out the bottom of the frame" near the right front footpeg:
    1) The thinnest one is the battery vent hose.

    2) The "capped" one is the Airbox Drain Hose.

    3) The other one is the Fuel Overflow / Water Drain Hose that connects to the center of the underside of the fuel tank.[/list:u]DId I miss one?  Are you talking about yet another hose?  :dunno:  (I don't have my bike at work today    'cause I had to drop off a big box at the UPS place.)

on mine there are 4.

1) from the tank, overflow hose
2) from the tank, CALI emission related.
3) from the top T of the carbs
4) from the battery

edit:
did you get the one from the right-side of the left carb to the frame mounted fuel petcock

It may very well be the one to the bottom of the tank...well, OK, that must be the one it is.  The tank is off (I'm repainting all the body work).  I've got both lines from the frame petcock for the tank, so I didn't even think about there being another one.  And it's def. not the battery vent...too big.  To the center of the underside of the tank, eh?  I'll have to check that tonight.

The one from the frame petcock to the right side of the left carb...yes and no.  I've got it run up there, but haven't got it connected.  I intended to figure out where it connected tonight also, between rounds of clearcoat to the tank and front fender.

Find the Fuel Overflow / Water Drain Hose on the hose routing diagram.  That hose has a distinctive 90-degree bend at its upper end.  If your "mystery hose" has that bend ... you've got it pegged.  :thumb:

PS - The more gentle 90-degree bend that's pointed at by the label in the diagram is not part of the hose's inherent shape.  It's a result of the routing path.

Got it all figured out.  I did have to run the line from the petcock to the side of the left carb around the top to keep the throttle linkage from hitting it.  I figured it would eventually rub a hole in the line.  Whether it would hurt anything or not, I dunno.  But I thought it best not to chance it.
