OK so there's this bastard screw that im putting so much torque on im afraid im going to strip the head.   Its the screw that holds the little tach drive assembly in place.   I'm about to hit it with some wd40 and heat up the engine to see if it will expand a little, but anyone else have any ideas?

Essentially its a screwdriver that you hit with a hammer! Best way to describe one is like a big handlebar grip, you can interchange the bits, phillips, posi, flatblade hex etc. You place the relevent bit in the fastener that wont turn, then smack the other end (not to hard) with a hammer. A mechanism inside causes the bit to turn, at the same time forces it into the screwhead so it wont slip out. Use a good quality one as cheap bits have a habit of rounding off the screwhead. Try a websearch for "impact drivers"

You can probably find it at any auto parts franchise such as Autozone.
