Okay everyone,
I want my gs500 to last and so do you, but to do do that we need to protect our engine with case case gaurds.  Srinath made a bunch of these before and they have been proven to do what they are made to do.  There is no good reason to not put these on your bike, unless you have really good insurance and cab money for when you inevitably drop your bike.
So, I am here to post and ask for orders so Srinath will be able to make more for us.  He has a design that is well thought out, will fit an 04+ and can me made into a 3 pointer.  He needs numbers to get it rolling so post here to get on the bandwagon.  Comprelo ya!
I came here to kick @$$ or chew bubblegum...and it looks like I'm all out of bubblegum.

I'd be interested in the ones for the 04, I would like to see a pic of how it is installed before I commit.

Sorry guys ... I cant do pics ... cos that means making 1 and I really dont have any way to do that. I have se7enty7's 04 fairing for a couple weeks, and I'll make sure these fit ... if you order before they go, else I'll still make sure they fit. These will be laser cut from thick steel ... which is why I need good numbers.
Cool.
Srinath.

Will the case guard work with the chin fairing (Dom's old chin fairing)?

If they work with the chin fairing, I'd get some. . .

I don't know if they're still offered by Suzuki, but the factory accessory Case Guards are Part # 99950-70104, fitting the 1999-2002 models.

I had a pair put on my bike when I bought it in 2002.  Believe they were $50.  A phone call to your favorite dealer should tell you if this is an option.

The suzuki ones were dropped in 2002 ... in any case they wont fit 04 ... and my old style will not fit 04 either ...
My guess is ... 2 point ~ $50, 3 point $75 ... 3 point will be an add on to 2 point ... and you can add a frame slider type item to them also ... I have a good idea ... trust me ...
Will fit all years 89-05 ... and 2 or 3 point will also work, as will sliders ... on 89-05 ... OK some random lower fairing ... no idea ... but send me a pic and I'll tell you ... Honestly ... I need numbers for the laser and for powder coating ...
Schematic ... OK i'll make some out of modelling cardboard and put it up ...
Cool.

I have an '04 GS500F.  I'll buy the engine guards. 2 point or 3 point,  whatever you have.  I'll also buy the sliders you talk about.

Srinath please e-mail me to exchange info.

How would the 3 point guards attach to the bike? Hmmm...

Three point would be cool with a slider on it.

I'm interested.

I am making it out of 3/8th thick flat plate. I would make the front hoops as 1 piece and the 3rd piece will bolt on to it and use the motor mounts in the top rear of the engine. Advantage of doing this way ... You dont need to support the engine fron falling out of the frame when you take the 3 bolts out ... cos 1 bolt holding it will let it pivot out of place ...That same bolt hole can be used for a frame slider. I would have to cut your sliders and I think Aluminium ... cos I really prefer doing metal over plastc ... but there might be merits to plastic as well being softer and slipperier ... So its a 2 point, expandable to 3 point and can take a slider on top of that ... of course at this point all we have is an idea in my head ... so we should get working on this.
Cool.

I'd be interested in the three pointer.... but would prefer nylon sliders over aluminum - I've seen what happens w/metal sliders.

if you want, PM me an outline and I'll photochop the rough ideas onto an '04 - just to give a visual to the idea.

The Buddha

Metal VS plastic - See in the GS the slider will go where there is no plastic behind it ... so having metal wont likely hurt anything ... it will not disintegrate as easily and that might be a bigger help ... though Lucite, or acrylic  or delrin are not likely to break apart either ... I'd say its 50 - 50 ...
Cool.
