The way I heard it most cars can pull at least a Class A trailer, which is to 1500lbs.  I pull a trailer with two bikes in my girlfriend's Toyota Corolla wagon with no problems whatsoever.

I saw a V6 Mustang pulling a friggin 20-some foot schloop today prior to "The Crash."

Small trailers are no problem for most cars.  Once you get over about 1500 lbs the trailer is going to start pushing the car around.  I think the wheelbase is the biggest problem.  MY V8 Grand cherokee is rated for 6000 lbs?, but I don't feel comfortable towing anything over about 4000 lbs, because it starts to pust the jeep around (even with trailer brakes).  A longer wheelbase (read truck) makes towing situations a lot more pleasent.

One bike on a small trailer should be no problem for most vehicles (except maybe something as small as a mini cooper).

That RR looks like a Harley on that trailer.

How about two bikes? :)
That back is squated (is that a word?) down because the rear hatch is full of parts.
The WRX has a 2000lbs towing capacity.  This is probably in the 1000 lbs range, and it worked great.
Yes I need to paint the trailer.  ;)

To answer the various questions...

Yes, I installed a hitch onto the Acura. I bought it at www.Hitchmart.com for $140 and installed it myself (bolt in, no drilling necessary) in 15 minutes. You can download the install instructions for your car to see if it requires drilling.

they sell www.Hiddenhitch.com brand hitches.

They also sell the wiring kits made special to your car. My acura has a plug already in the wiring harness, accessed through a panel in the rear hatch, that the kit plugs right into. peice of cake.

I also bought a hitch ball through them. Total for everything was about $175 (free shipping).

UHaul would be happy to install a hitch and wiring kit for about $300.

All passenger cars are rated to tow with a Class I hitch. thats 2000lb capacity. Your car's owner's manual has info on towing that is specific to your car.

trailer is a www.harborfreight.com 4'x8' trailer that can be purchased for $250 or less. You have to add the plywood floor and buy a ramp though.

That's where I bought the hitch reciever for my old Subaru Legacy I believe.  I ended up towing bikes a bunch of times with that car, usually with a uhaul bike trailer.  I also towed around a 16' sailboat a lot

There's a problem with this thread -- no GS500's on trailers.  So, here's my rig: :thumb:

Pablo, looks like you guessed correctly.  Expect your rig weighs less than 800 pounds and is low drag.  Anything short of a Toyota Echo-sized car should be able to pull what you've got.

i was talking to an OLD flat track racer from the 60's.
he used to pull the chain on the H-D and stick the front wheel in the trunk of a 64 fairlane( i think it was... :dunno: )
the car died on the way home from the races
he put the chain back on the bike
had his buddy drive the car
and he used the race bike to ..... push the car
