Well I did this under a diff sn so know one here knows who I am an make fun of me. But I have a 199 GS500 and love and I cant afford it and where I am living and college. I want to do something with my life, my parents dont help or anything, I am suffering so I was thinking about joining the Military, does anyone know if this would be a good idea? Thank you

It depends on what it is that will get you going in the direction you want to go.

The military has helped many a wayward soul, but I've seen it destroy others, I'd suggest you ask someone that is close to you for advise on this one, not Mom and Dad, but maybe a teacher you once had, or a minister of your church, or a trusted sports coach. Someone that knows you well enough to have an educated answer.

This probably belongs in the OnE section...

Are your problems mostly financial? If you are in college and not getting any financial support from your family, you probably qualify for a lot of grants and loan support. Talk to your financial aid office, there are even emergency loans available in some situations.

If it is more of a life crisis then the military is one option. They are pretty desperate these days so they would probably fight over you. Signing bonuses are getting to be significant. Just remember that recruiters will tell you almost anything to get you to sign. The document you sign basically says they can change anything they told you :o

If you want structured lifestyle w/out people shooting at you there are other options like working as a firefighter for the BLM. They will be hiring for the summer fire season.

If you join the military, and you have no external support to take care of your motorcycle, sell it. Or, also you may try the Coast Guard, the only thing is when you join one of these organizations, I don't know if you or they will be able to take care of your bike while you're in training for 4-16 weeks (depending on what branch you join). Your bike will undoubtedly be exposed to sun fading and theives if you leave it even in the base parking lot. I know, my ignition was punched out once and the only thing that prevented them from taking the bike was the fact that I had removed the battery.
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

if you're having money problems, apply for grants, scholarships, etc. there are plenty of those to go around, especially if you're indigent.  yes, the military is one way of getting money, but it's not the best... basically they end up owning you for quite some time.

if you're lacking direction, try an advisor, or maybe a career center at your school.  once again, military is one way to go, but it's a long commitment, so consider carefully.

if you're suffering in the emotional/psychologica/social sense, then please see a counselor.  many schools provide free psych counseling.  it's better than getting a gun (military)

I was also in a similar situation with my parents/school/military

I explored the idea of a military career and even qualified for Special Forces MOS which i was going to do if i went in.

My parents kicked me out when i decided not to join the military because they thought  I was a lazy piece of trash who would never make it in life without uncle sam.

More to the point, I am doing fine and plan to finish college and am leaving the military career idea on a back burner incase the shaZam! hits the fan.

It turns out my earlier failures were due to adult ADD which I am now seeing a doctor for, so im not really a lazy piece of trash ;) and my parents were blind to this

Such is life and the decisions you make will be yours and yours alone.

The military can be good, just make sure you aim for a job that shows advancement and good pay, go for ranger school, airborne school, SF if you can, with SF you will even learn a second language.

The one upside to a military career is you need NOTHING, cost of living is no longer an issue. You don't need a vehicle, a home, any kind of property, meal plans or buying food, etc etc. But you are also lending your life for someone else to move about like a pawn. Make sure you do your research before you make any big decision

My final opinion is, stay in school look for scholarships and loans, all college students or at least most are poor ;)

Just remember that we live in the richest nation in the world (assuming you are from the US).  If you are willing and able to go to college, there is a way to get it paid for with loans, grants and scholarships.  If you don't want to go to college, that's another story, but any motivated aspiring college grad can make it through school financially somehow.

good luck.
