Ok I have Helmet speakers, MP3 player, and a radio for communications with other riding buddies on long hauls.

How can i rig these three so that the radio overrides the mp3 player when someone starts talking over the channel

so im just riding and listening to music and my buddy scott comes over the radio and the music cuts out for the radio is basically what i want.

It should be built into the radio. I know Collett Communicators are made this way.

there are "mixers" that does that. You can plug multiple device in and one device has priority over the rest.

google it...you should find a couple.

Hmm... I wonder what kind of circuitry one could make that would do that.

I am thinking of just a slope detector used to "cutoff" the music and an opamp pass the interupting signal.


Hmm... maybe $5 for parts and a perfboard from radioshack.
