The bike will idle fine but there seems to be no power.  If I give the throttle a crank it wants to bog down, hesistates and then revs up.  What's going on?  It does this even though it's fully warmed up.

well i know from very recent expierience that its definately a carb issue.  too lean maybe?

That's what I was thinking but why all of a sudden?  It was running fine a month ago.

check for leaks in the system where air might get in.  that would cause it to run lean.  where headers bolt up, where airbox goes into carbs..

Ok, here's a little background.  I rode it during April for about 2 weeks and it ran fine, no problems.  Then I bought an SV650 at which time the GS was retired and put up for sale.  It's been sitting for about three weeks and has been started twice during that time.  Since last week it started doing this.  I'll check what you suggest Weasel but any other suggestions?

It's because you rode a faster, more powerful, smoother bike!  I thought the same thing after getting and riding my Ninja.  When I rode the GS to show it to someone to sell it to it seemed "rough" running and powerless.

Naw, it's definately not working right.  I wish that's all it was.  It stalls too easy and there's no punch to it.

Prolly too rich ... stuck float maybe.
BTW get this ... I had bad sparkplugs (new NGK's that were in ginovega's bike ~2 years ago) ... we swapped them and the bike ran like a charm ... Now I absently put them in mine, and remarkably they ran great ... however I saw left carb leaking fuel, due to bad seat O ring, and right carb had a bad vacuum spigot rubber cap ... and I replace/swap it, check and set floats after putting O rings in ... and the bike never starts ... 2 hours of loud shotgun like misfiring (which is what clued me in to spark plugs cos Gino's bike did the same thing but I am a bit slow ... and it ran for 20 seconds the first time) ... I swapped it for champions Yes Champions and the thing runs like a dream ...
Funny ... yea I laugh now but was all tears when it was busted ...
Cool.

Too rich, that makes sense.  It does have the strong smell of gas when I do run it and afterwards.  What's your recommendation 'doc Srinath?
