Hey folks. I need to replace all of my plastics + turn signal + clutch lever on my gs500f following a lowside.

It would be nice if I could get a copy of one of those supplementary service manuals for the F series that details the fairing. Does anyone know where to get it online (as PDF or to purchase?).

The 3rd party service manual is really easy to find (up until 2002 anyway). Is is very different from the OEM manual? (It's a lot cheaper).

when you bought your bike it should have come with some manuals.. those are usually under the seat.. look towards the back, near the tool kit.

I don't know what manuals you got guys with your bikes new, but the manual that come with my "F" is close to worthless for anything beyond and oil change, spark plug replacement, or fluid/factory specs. It is more of a "user guide" than a manual  :dunno:

I wouldnt mind finding a good GS500F manual either..then I might actually attempt things..hah!

Are you just looking for the factory parts, or for a guide to how to remove / reinstall them?

For the parts, check out the Parts Fiche Links page.  As an example, here are the relevant 2004 topics from the MrCycles catalog:
    BODY COWLING INSTALLATION PARTS (GS500FK4)
    COWLING BODY (GS500FK4)
    FRAME COVER (GS500FK4)
    HANDLE LEVER
    TURNSIGNAL LAMP (GS500FK4)[/list:u]

i'm looking for a guide on how to remove them. The parts fiche is not as helpful as you'd think. It doesn't for example, show how the body cowling is attached to the metal bracket, and it doesn't show how to get those damn plastic clips off.

I ended up buying a 05-only OEM manual. It should cover the 04 just fine, though.
