Alright, I've got this friend with a ninja 250r. I figured the GS and the Ninja's engine's are basically similar, and his bike doesn't have an awesome forum like this one, so I thought I'd post his problem on here. After the bike warms up and he turns off the choke, the bike jsut wants to stutter and die under about 2500 rpm. He can gun it and keep it goin, but hte instant he lets it off, it starts stuttering and dies. I'm thinkin there's some kind of blockage in his fuel lines or somethin or carburetor but I know nothing. Any help?

My friend was looking at a 250 ninja, that did that, but we figured out it was the fuel switch (wasn't on) and it hadn't ran for awhile.  What year is it, has it been sitting?

Sounds like he needs to clean the carbs.  I rode one for six months.  They don't normally do that.

2004, did ride it almost everyday till this.

Replace the plugs and check the air filter to start with.

sounds like there is a problem in idle circuit of the carbs if it runs at WOT

When I purchased my GS a couple of months ago, I was also looking at the Ninja 250.  I was actually looking at the 250 first.  Had someone tell me that I would be getting out of the way of people on the highway unless I has moving "downwind".

yeah, I they're alright, I just needed a grabber headline to get people to click to get as many viewpoints as possible. And JeffD, he knows about ninja250.net, he said he found a thread that goes over almost the same thing. Of course, this was after I posted this topic.

I'll bet it needs a valve adjustment ... heck It could probably use a valve job ...

The valves are really easy to do.  Just take your time.

Idle adjustment screw turned in enough? More?

Fixed. he did adjust his valves, that didn't help, but this happened right after he changed the oil, and he overfilled, which slows the parts down enough to make the engine die unless he revved it. He changed the oil again after a monumental 4 miles and didn't overfill this time--prollem solved.

Thanks for the input.
