difference in handlebars 500f vs 500e question

I liked the lower and wider bars on an 500F I saw, so I bought them for my 500E that had bent bars.

I didn't buy the 500F bar ends since I planned to reuse my 500E ones.  Can someone tell me how the F's bar ends mount?  I can't see if the threaded piece in the E's handlebar is removable to reinsert into the new bars. :dunno:

Thanks!
Ian

The F has press in bar ends. Most E's (1999 or 1998 and earlier) have welded in nuts to screw them to. You need press in's from Lockhart phillips or you could try a thick radiator type hose and a longer bolt and convert your old ones into press in type. Fiddle and see what you need, washers or nylon bushing to space it out a sahde off the grips, and rubber hose to swell when tightened and grip the bar ... Some rubber glue may also help to hold it in place.
Cool.
