Gentle lay down from center stand

I was putting my GS500F on the center stand to apply some chain wax Saturday and lost my balance and the bike slowly and gently went over on its right side. Nothing broke, but this morning I noticed the plastic end piece on the throttle was askew and the handlebars were out of position. They had been moved to the left; the splines were visible to the left of the clamps where they bolt down, and they also seemed to be rotated forward slightly.

Will the end piece on the throttle be OK or does it need to be replaced? And can I just loosen and slide the handlebars back into position then tighten them back down? Seeking the advice of you experts since I don't want to make an apparently easy repair then get on the road and discover I should've done more.

At least the chain is well-waxed.

Thanks for your help.

By plastic end piece, I assume you are refering to the switch cluster (start button and big red kill button), if it doesn't bother you with its new position, leave it for now.

Yes, you can loosen the handlebars and reposition them by prying out the plastic caps over the bolts and loosening the allen head bolts with a 5mm hex wrench. Just crack loose the rears first and then the fronts, and then loosen the rears some more, and alternate between the two til loose enough to move the bars. Maybe put a towel on the tank to protect it. Tighten in the reverse (front first, rear last).

If the end piece you refer to is the metal bar end, as long as it doesn't interfere with throttle action, you'll be okay.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?
