I have 1992 model GS and I am planning to do full-fairing at ABS-plastic like models 2004-2005. I only like to know how fairing is attached to frame? I would be pleased if I see pictures of these areas I have marked with red circles. I mean what happens below these areas.. some dimensions from clips would be nice too.

I have made frame for lamp already. Im using rounded lamp in this project. I'm planning to make accurate sablon at paper first, then cut proper pieces at ABS-plastic and then warm plastic up with hotairfan. I practised litte this and its pretty easy when doing only one angle at once.

When I,m ready I will paste some pictures here too.

This is my bike nowadays:

PS. Sorry my poor english, i hope you understand...

i just had that all apart a couple of days ago. i would have taken pics but i didn't have my camera. for the side flairs there is a bracket right behind the screw. the brackets are about 3 a piece. i can't remember how the headlight flairing is connected. you can get an idea if you go to bikebandit.com.

search for my previous post about removing the fairings.

In short:

-three bolts on each side connecting lower fairing to frame (you circled them in little circles)
-4 bolts on each side connecting upper fairing to lower (3 on the seam visible in your pic, plus one up top next to the tank). The bolt by the tank also connects to the frame.
-2 plastic clips connecting the underside of the upper to the underside of the lower.
-2 plastic clips connecting the lower fairings to each other (different kind of plastic clip)

once you get all of those out, the lower fairings come out easily. All of the bolts connecting the side fairing to the frame do so via a bracket that bolts directly into the frame.

-4 plastic clips connecting back of upper to outer blue part
-2 screws connecting back to outer that also go through the windshield

once you get those out, the black backing of the upper fairing come out

-4 hex head bolts connecting the mirrors to the frame extension that go through the upper fairing
-5 screws connecting the fairing to the headlight mount and the frame extension.

once you get those off, you can take the upper fairing off and you basically have a GS500E with a different headlight.

The headlight mount is also screwed into the frame extension. Finally, once you get that off, you can take the frame extension/brace that the upper fairing mounts to off. From there, all traces of the fairings will have been removed, plus the headlight.

I've taken all of the plastic parts off, but not the headlight mount or frame extension, so I don't know exactly how those last 2 are attached.

Thanks for info.
I bought hotairpistol, 12 EUR (15 USD) and ABS-plastic cost 1m x 2m piece about 75 EUR (91 USD), side bracket material cost about 5 EUR (6 USD) and paint is about 60 EUR (73 USD).
Total cost for fairing 152 EUR (184 USD). Of cource it's not going to be like factory fairing but i hope I succeed in this project.
I post here some info within 3 weeks...
