well... there was my black pearl baby minding its business.
next thing I know I'm watching it tip over because the expedition was backing up and crash..I couldn't believe it.

the driver swore up and down she didn't feel the bike bump, and it couldn't been her but guess what it was..I had to chase her as she was pulling away to tell her that she had just dropped my bike.

Now I have a 2-3" deep by 3-4" wide dent on my gas tank because as the bike tipped over it hit a brick columm.geesh..

I finally got her insurance information...at first I thought I was going to have to call the cops, she wasn't cooperating much. what is the repair bill for gas tanks? I sure need the $$$ so I might not fix it but I'm thinking about selling my bike. A dent on a gas tank lowers the price much.

Its hard to put a brick through the front windshield. Try the back, it shatters easier. Don't ask how I know.

Do not delay.  Get a police report.  If something like this happens, then at the scene you should get a cop to write a report and get witnesses - especially if the person's swearing up and down that it wasn't him/her.  Since the time for that is gone, file a police report; after the fact is better than not at all.  Take your bike to her house with a digicam and get pics of the bike, her car (which will have bumps/your paint where she hit you), and how nicely they fit relative to each other.

You can't see around them, they'll kill anyone in a smaller vehicle, and they're so inefficient.

I can understand a truck - if you use it to haul things.  Otherwise driving a f*cking car.  

I live in the richest county in kansas (in an apartment I might add), and I see so many soccer moms and rich b*tches who drive suburbans/tahoes/expeditions etc etc.  It makes me sick.

A few years ago, I was driving a car, and an oncoming car turned left in front of us.  I T-boned their right rear quarter panel.  I called 9-1-1, and the police asked if anyone was hurt.  I said "no" (I should have known better), and they said that they'd send somebody... they sent a private tow-truck to clean-up, and there was no police report.  $14k in repair costs to my car, and no police report!

In the end, the insurance companies did settle in my favor, but without a police report, that was just luck.

Wow man that sucks. Maybe this story will cheer you up:

I was riding down an urban street once; cars were parked on the right side, a line of cars were in the middle waiting at a red light, and there was a 5'-wide lane next to the left curb. Naturally I pulled into this left area to move to the red light. Scooting along, when suddenly a Ford Expedition, which had up til that moment not been moving, decided to pull left into a parking garage. Never put his blinker on, never checked his side mirror. He turns left just as I'm passing him, I stand on the brakes but can't stop in time. I hit the left side of the SUV and went down onto the curb.

Luckily this was all at pretty low speed, so I wasn't hurt or anything... just went down with the bike and then picked it back up. Anyway, end result: damage to SUV = scratched paint and pronounced dent in driver's door; damage to GS500 = nuthin'.

About two weeks ago, I was at Tar-jaaay.  I finished my errand and went to start up the bike and leave.  I heard something that sounded like a bang in the echoy garage, and looked around.  Some SUV had parked next to a concrete pillar, and was not doing a very good job leaving; I could see that they had whacked the passenger's side mirror clean off and put a _really_ significant gouge in the passenger's side door.  Let this be a lesson to you - you need to be ten times as attentive when driving something that big, not half as attentive!

Parking garage = 1, SUV = 0.

I was just itching to get out last night. Of the house and my friends truck.

Last night I was a passenger in my friend's dad's F350 truck. Just curious I asked her, "What is this like a V10??" And she said "Yeah, good guess"

Sick! She had to return it to her dad and before she did she put 16 bucks in gas. The thing went up less than a quarter of a tank! Thats why I drive a Civic and a GS500. Amen and Amen.

I hate SUV's....they should be banned. I can't tell you how many times one has come close to knocking my bike over. They are all too big for the road and not to mention the fact that people just can't drive these days..... :nana:

I drive a Chrysler Pacifica - it's one of those overgrown station wagon - SUV wannabe's.  Why?  I have a large dog, haul stuff around a fair amount but not enough to need a truck (not yet, anyway), and frequently chauffeur people around for work.  It seats six, has all-wheel drive for  the snow, etc.  Best part is that I got a 2 year lease on it for $0 down and $345 a month (I know, why lease when you can own, etc. -- the lease worked out better than any car loan would have, especially so with no money out of pocket).

I hate driving the damned thing.  It is comfortable and drives well enough, but the rear visibility isn't so great and it's a Buddha Loves You to park.  The Pacifica is pretty small compared to most other SUVs on the market, too.

The point that I wanted to get to, though, is that not all SUV drivers are ignorant soccer moms.  I was nearly side-swiped in the the parking lot at Home Depot yesterday as I backed out of my spot; a lady driving a Corolla whipped around the corner and nearly slammed into me (mind you I was already all the way out of the parking spot and had started to pull forward - it's not like I'd just started backing out and didn't see her).  

The problem is the drivers, and the mentality that "if I'm going to get in a wreck, I want to be in the biggest vehicle possible so that the OTHER guy gets hurt, not me."  The people with that attitude are usually the ones you wouldn't want driving period, much less driving a 3 ton behemoth.  Unfortunately, you can't pass legislation requiring an IQ and driving skills test for passenger vehicles.

I really loved my old school Isuzu Trooper... Not too big... Not too small.. Enough power to pull a forklift out of frozen mud... And amazing in the snow... Why the hell do I have a minivan?     O'yeah... my kid's safety..

Back to the point... ALWAYS GET A POLICE REPORT   (when it's not your fault)

At least start the documentation trail by taking photos of where your bike was and where she was parked...

Sounds like my 5'2" wife trying to dive my Ford Exploder...  Poor girl.  

She TOTALLY nailed a retaining wall a few weeks back.  F'ed up the rear bumper pretty bad on one side...  I'm happy it wasn't a car or a little kid.

Here in Cincinnati, our SUVs are driven off-road all the time.....into medians, flower beds, ground cover, shrubbery, the lawn beside the driveway, over curbs  :lol:

99% of it was intentional...  :dunno:  Good thing I rarely drive that stupid thing anymore.
