that looks like a really cool bike.  while the Buell line has had it's problems, i really like what they're doing overall.  unfortunately, my wallet says no to their offerings.

i will be interested to read the reviews on that bike though.  it's nice to see an American manufacturer getting beyond the retro market.

I want to like Buell, but I don't.  I want there to be an American company that makes bikes that are as much bang for the buck as Japanese bikes or as hoity for the buck as German bikes, but there isn't, so far.  I tried out a few Buells - the Blast as a starter bike, the Cyclone and S1 when I was looking for an F650 replacement.  The plastic just feels cheap.  They're all about torque and big engines (except for the Blast, which is all about... feet touching the ground); there's little to no emphasis on handling.  I can see why people make them drag bikes; they do go fast in a straight line.
I wanted to like the S1.  It was a first-gen; an engine with the minimal amount of plastic necessary to make a gas tank and a narrow little seat. Coolness.  The torque yanks your arms.  At idle, the thing is tuned just perfectly to be a vibrator on wheels.  But - the handling was just not there.

They have terrible reputations quality-wise. I like the designs and cool little details such as the inverted brake rotor.  Most reviews I've been reading on them say they're not very good bikes.

I love Buells, but have never owned one.  I can't bring myself to look at that website.  It is like looking at a porno before church.  You know you won't get any satisfaction.

Before passing judgement on the new Buells you all ought to check out this month's Cycle World.  It's been ridden along side the KTM and BMW

C'mon, dude, you and most others here are talking about Buell models that are soon to be 5 years old. You at least rode a couple whereas most of the other naysayers here are relying on a forum created by disgruntled consumers. There's plenty of POS Suzuki's out there from bad dealers.   Most 500cc bikes don't have lots of power or handling, stock GS included. You buy a B-Last, well, you deserve what you get if you got a chance to ride it first.
The new generation Buell's are light years better. Having ridden my friend's Xb12S Lightning (race kit), i agree with you about the torque thing, but not the handling. It is really sharp in corners, not at all wierd, no protest from the chassis and tires like a GS. It turns in quick, like any good point and shoot. The suspension is killer. When those bikes get the V-Rod engine it's all over. We just love to hate our own here.

Ja, I haven't tried the Firebolt.  Still, the bikes I was looking at are all more recent than the GS, and the GS handles light-years better and is, IMO, much better value for the money.  Of course, the SV is hard to beat in bang-for-buckage, but it's a couple of years more recent than the S1 I was looking at.

Now wont that be distracting ... and I have had women tell me ... they prefer Jap bikes to ride and harleys to be a passenger just for this reason ... This girl I know is forever trying to steal my keys ... whenever I go by (her BF is a friend of mine) I am always having to shoo her off the bikes.
