dinged gas tank

Hey folks. I accidentally swiped my gas tank with my key, and now it has a nice tiny divot in it. It goes through the paint and to the metal. Anything I should do to it other than cover it with touch up paint?

After you hit it with touch up paint, keep an eye on it to see if it discolors from rust, which would be highly unlikely if you ride the bike alot and you are going to protect it with the touchup paint before any rust can set in anyway.

what's the touch up paint procedure? How do I get it on smoothly?

Also, how long does it take for rust to set? I have to leave town and the earliest I can work on this is next week.
