Well the only other thing that comes to mind is that if the clreance holes on the fork tube got twisted towards the rotor.

The only conclusion I can come up with is the the distince from the mouting bracket to the rotor is too close, and the only thing that controls that is mount on the fork.

Quote from: coll0412Yeah mine dont have the inserts...and they shouldn't matter since the piston would just have to go out a little farther

I went and looked and you're right. I can't even see them. Plus you would want the piston to act directly on the pad for better brake response and feedback anyway.
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

No, you should still get the inserts.

What side did you crash your bike on? What I am thinking is that is twisted your caliper and is basically pushing it into your roter

the main blow was to the tank/frame on the left side.  the wheel was bent up too.  forks appear to be fine but maybe are skewed some.  i'm gonna tackle it again in a few minutes.  i wonder where the inserts went?!  first time i had the front caliper apart and they arent there? weird.

ok just thought of something and 2000's dont have the inserts.  95's do.  so it changed with the caliper i guess

You know what? Mine did the same thing after I had a little accident with my disc lock. It ground the metal tab off, it was sparking and stuff. I straightened that $@!& out, and filed the tab down.

Problem fixed.
