I've been looking for a solid mp3 player to replace my old cd player for  jogging. I have two g4 macs at home, so I'm really only trying to decide which ipod I want.

Anyone have an ipod?  Anything I should know before buying one?

I just need something that can hold about 150 songs - for jogging, I'm not planning to listen to it while riding.

I'd like to go pick one up tomorrow, so let me know what you have to say.

I don't have either but have done research on them cause I was thinking about getting one.  I also end up spending the money on bike things though.  I would go with the mini.  I don't think you can choose your songs on the shuffle.

The shuffle sucks...  You can get better mem-stick players for less...  In fact...  You can get better HDD player for less than the mini.

And...  You can use "other" players and music stores with them, unlike the iPOS.

Get an "MTP" capable player that's supported by Media Player 10...  More people support them.  I think every player out there supports MP10 devices...

Oh wait.......  If you have a mac, disregard everything I've said (and go buy a computer!  HA HA HA HA).

lets not turn this into a mac vs. pc fight.  It'll never end.  I've had macs in the past and they were always good to me, but I've since then been using my company PC's and they're ok, just so long as I keep track of those support numbers.

Seriously though, I'd say if its just for workouts, get the cheaper ipod shuffle..
Lets do this.  I'm a cashew.

RVertigo

Like I said...  You can get other mem-stick players for cheaper.  So... If it's about money, anything with "IPOD" written on it isn't it.

The best bet is to get the one that's easiest to use as a player.

BTW...  Mem-stick == NO SEEKING, NO SKIPPING, NO HARD CRASHING!!!
Although, 512MB, or even 1024 MB, isn't much...  60 GB (or 20GB in case of the mini) is nice 'cause you never have to worry about space.

I have an Ipod, not the mini, but i am scared to run with it just because its a harddrive, so i use it on the tread mill (it sits in teh cup holder of the treadmill).

I personally wpuld go for the shuffle, its better for that deal. I have a friend with teh 512 shuffle, and says for workign out its perfect, set it and forget it, so much for not having controls, in anycase you only load the songs you want to hear, so it doesnt matter, you arent going to hear a song you dont like.

I have the mini, and it doesn't skip at all...flash memory.
Though I only got the 4gb instead of a 6-8gb, it is plenty; over 2 days of music on it.

I didn't get the shuffle for a variety of reasons, but the biggest one is that sometimes I like to listen to an album start to finish. Or all of the bands albums in sequence. With the shuffle, you can't do that.

For the money, you get much more with the mini than the shuffle.

Much better than a stupid over priced Apple product...and for the price you get more features...24 plus hours of battery life and five gigs of space for a few bucks more than an Ipod mini or Shuffle. I have one and it is so much better....I had an Ipod, Mini, and Shuffle and they are nice for what you get but for the price and features the one in the link is so much better....

If it has to be between the Mini and the Shuffle, you should just go with a Shuffle. My way of thinking is if you're gonna spend the money on a Shuffle, though, you might as well dish out the extra $50 and get the 20GB iPod. You wont be disappointed. I just bought my 4th iPod (the 60GB) and the photo features really add quite a lot to the value. I say go for the 20GB iPod.

I bought me an Ipod shuffle 1GB.  After getting it all charged up I took it for a three mile run, it worked great-very light weight (less than 1 oz.). I'm not such a big fan of the apple earphones that came with it though.  I will probably be replacing these within the next few days.

AWWWWW dang!  Oh well too late I guess.  You shoulda gone with the 1TB iPod I'm sure they'll come out with it soon.  Seriously, everyone needs 16 years worth of music.  Who wants to hear the same song twice?

Nice pic of Vida Guerra ;)  WHAT AN INCREDIBLE @$$!!!
