hey guys,

i was wondering who here has this thing on his bike?

a friend of mine took a slide with he's costly paint job and the gas tank took a beating.

i was wondering who here has somthin to prevent it?

i thought maybe installing some sliders, cuz here at least there;s only this huge ugly case gaurd which i dont want to install.

any1 here has a creative idea?

I made them and sold last year, I may have some left, $50 for a pair If I do, I will be making them in the near future hopefully ... and these will fit an 04 and take frame sliders, target $$ - 50 without sliders, 60 with, 80 for 3 pointers ... and 90 for sliders and 3 pointers ... Still in the R&D stage ... How good are they ... my nighthawk got hit by a cab on wednesday, these got scratched when I fell, but tank, motor, everything else was saved, handle bars bent ... but that's $20 opposed to $100+ for tank, 100 for side covers ... cool stuff and really works ... And guess what ... even with scratches ... its still useable ... heck I may wrap some thick rubber type like radiator hose around it and not even hurt it ...
Cool.

They also make it a lot easier to pick the bike up after you drop it!
(Different angle, doesn't lay down on side of engine case)
(Don't ask me how I know  )

BTW: Thanks for getting them to me Srinath!

Srinath, lemme know if you have any o those things lyin around.  I'll try to scrape together the dough.  If you ain't got any left put me on the list for the next batch, as long as they will fit on '00.  I like the look of the tube steel.

Finally got a good job.  Hooray me!!!

I still love beer.  Hooray me!!!

The Buddha

I loved that tube steel thing too ... but the 04 and hence the entire lot has to be flat bar ... dont worry ... it be just as strong ... but has to be from flat bar ... sliders are prolly going to help even more too ... lets see ...
Cool.

will smaller case guards (like the one in ebay in the link)  keep the gas tank from hitting the ground?

and to srinath - if u have them to sell and can send me a picture maybe we can do some business.

thanks.

RedShift

I bought them at the same time as getting the bike new from the dealer for Srinath's price.  Embarrased to say I've relied on them a couple of times, both zero velocity drops.

This is what they look like when installed.  Should have cleaned them up. They look natural on the bike, and the case ends still look great.  The casualties were the clutch and front brake levers which took the brunt of the force when the handlebar hit terra firma.

I've got the suzook ones like Redshift, but I was too stubborn to buy/put them on until after that damn car hit me.  Had to replace right side cases and other side is scratched up too.  Not gonna happen again

these sure look much nicer than the ones i've seen, but u dont think they can prevent the gas tank from getting hit.

am i right?

The Buddha

Them and the handle bars can take much of the contact ... frame and tank does get spared ... especially in the 89-00 bike ... If the bars are turned the wrong way ... then sometimes you hit the tank ...

Fairings
Common sense in not very common.

The Buddha

I'll be making them shortly ... from flat bar type material ... watch this space ... Preorder when I say ... and I will do that aspect pretty fast ... just wait a wee bit ... wifey comming back in 3 days, then I get on this ... 50, 60, 80 and 90 target $$ for 2 pt, 2 pt+ slider, 3pt, and 3+ slider ... all bolts etc included ... in my head, just has to get onto metal ...    Totally cool item IMHO ... especially after that hit by cab incident ... and heck those guards weren't even as good as the GS ones ...
Cool.
