I do go to the dragstrip, with eats and fees $20 covers a trip[ to the National trails raceway here in Ohio on Wednesday and Fridays.

I have went and watched the autocrossing.  Driving through cones in a parking lot does not look all that good to me.  The road course looks good but the ones I watched you ran against the clock and rarely against other cars.

Quote from: BlazinjrOn the way to work I got behind a guy I work with and started to play around.  To make a long story short I got burnt by a stock 1997 Chevy Cavalier.  He pulled out to pass a car and I followed and he pulled away from me.  In the corners I would catch him easily but then he would pull away again.  When I got to work he asked me what happened.  I lied and said one of the corners spooked me and I let up on it.  Hell I was giving it all she had!

Before I get flamed and told again "with a 500 what did you expect?"  Honestly I thought it would at least do what it was registered for( and not get beat by a Cavalier).

On a side note I have started selling some of the extra components to my car.  I am selling the parts,  the car, and my truck to buy a bigger cc bike in the spring.  I am going to keep the GS though..... it will be my wife's.  Sorry for the rant and I also did not have a good day at work.

Oy shut up ... I once got creamed by a giggling 12 year old chineese chick in a Ovlov ... 3 stop lights ... mostly straights ... she was looking at me and laughing the whole time ... yea ... The joke's on her ... I own a Ovlov too now and mine's uglier ... ha, that'll teach her ...  :?  :?

Hot rod that little Neon all you can with your wife AND kids in there, PLEASE!!!

Take yourself out of the gene pool, do us and Darwin a favor!

Seriously, how old are you?  Grow some damn balls and check yourself.

You like to drive fast, and your wife calls for you to win?  How about doing something a little more productive than beating 16 yr olds in their mom's Maxima/mini vans on Fri/Saturday nights.

How can auto-x not appeal to you?  Oh yeah, you aren't looking for something that actually might make you a better (ie, safer) driver, you are just looking for a cheap adrenalin boost.

I don't know what fits better:   or this: :x

well dude your getting bagged on cause you come off as a f%$king squid. all your right foot skills on a drag strip blaw blaw blaw.  :bs:  that crap any 16 year old knows how to press the gas pedal.  go unfuck yourself. and come back when you figure out how to scrape pegs in 4th gear.

Hi-T

Maybe we could lighten up- huh?

So his attitude on the street is a little juvenile- but I don't think it's worth all the personal attacks...  We all do stupid things.   :dunno:

Blazin- I'm sure you can see that this board is slightly more conservative in the street racing and stunting department.  Let this be a lesson to you.  Remember that certain behaviours will catch up with you sooner or later in the forms of tickets, wrecks, etc..

Later.

No, I never have street raced.  Yes, when I first bought my Cobra I ran it up to triple digits - at Kil-Kare.  I've tried autocrossing it once or twice too, which was fun (hilarious, but fun).  I'm guilty of driving over the speed limit since I usually cruise at about 75, but I don't race stoplight to stoplight, and I don't respond when people rev at me or ride my ass on the highway, etc.  Why? I outgrew that shaZam! about a year after I got my license. A high school friend of mine was the passenger in a street racing wreck; a buddy of his was running his Integra against a Civic on some back roads and lost it on a corner.  That wreck killed the driver and broke my friends C5 vertebra among other injuries.  He's never walked since.  Both guys had the same "when it's your time, it's your time" attitude that you do.  Had being the operative word.  Yeah, shaZam! happens, bad luck, etc.  My line of thinking is, if it's gonna be your time eventually, why not push it off as long as you can by being as smart as you can about your need for speed.

I have absolutely no problem with you driving as fast as you want on a track where it's meant to be done, same as I don't care if the stunter guys ride on their tanks, do wheelies or stoppies, etc. in empty parking lots instead of the middle of the highway.  I do get pissed when people do that shaZam! on public roads where someone else could get hurt.  It's not like track fees are that expensive - if you're dropping cash on nitrous kits and other go-fast goodies for your car, you obviously have the disposable income to afford runs at the drag strip or some track days on the bike.  Join the SCCA and start auto-crossing, Neons are a great platform for it.

Here's hoping that if you do wind up in a wreck, you don't hurt anyone else :P

Sweet what year Cobra? I've taken mine auto-x a few times and had a blast. The oddest thing about it that, it looks completely boring, but MAN it's a blast  when you actually do it. If you remain shallow minded enough to judge it by watching it from the sidelines, then I feel sorry for you.

I never race or go fast with my kids in the car.  I'm 30 years old.  The guys I race are not 16 year olds they are all people I grew up with and work with.  We all have cars and trucks that we have built to drag race.  If I go to an autoX I might learn how to dodge the grocery carts in the walmart parking lot.

davipu

You think all drag racing is using your right foot?  you need to go to a drag strip, watch and learn some things.  As far as scraping pegs in 4th gear that would require breaking the speed limit and the hippie squid fartknockers on here will call me capn-biker-boyz for breaking the law and being dangerous on the open roads.

leo

I have went to a couple of events with guys I met a NTR here in Columbus.  They do it but still race on the street.  I have watched it several times.  I checked into it once and they told me I would need to take some of the stuff off my car to run or put me in a different class because my car is modified.  I wanted to start at the bottom and go up and they said bring another car.  I never went back.

Drag/Street racing has been around for years and will be years from now.

A couple of points.  First, if you got owned by a Cavalier, then you don't know how to ride your bike.  A Cavalier in any trim ain't gonna hang with a GS.  Hell, my car is a Saab 9-5 Aero, and my GS will hang with it at anything less than 70 or 80 mph.

Quote from: BlazinjrThe same crap that can happen on the street can happen on a track too.  Riding the same road, same track, etc is like riding around on the old fashioned cars at Kings Island.
Wrong donkey.  At the track you won't come across pedestrians and other drivers who don't particularly feel like being involved in your little racer boy fantasy.  You really don't need us to drag out all the news stories about fools who have killed or maimed innocent bystanders while racing, do you?  :dunno:

jeff

ps. you're right, this board is full of "this type of people"

Blazinjr

I don't race in towns, cities, populated areas.

Read the post....  80 mph + the Cavalier beat me.  Sorry getting the GS to go that fast and accelerate above the 100 mph mark does'nt happen.  At least mine will not.  Maybe mine is just a turd.

Has any GS hit an "actual" 120 - 130 mph?

ahhhhh....don't be talking about Maxima's now (how can you even mention 4DSC in the same sentence with minivans and neons)  :dunno: .....that nean can have anything short of the rocket engine and still will never come close :)
damn, that definately strikes a nerve with me  :guns: .....just kidding every one is free to waste money on whatever they want, i spent my fair share on trying to make maxima handle and accelerate like a sports car :)

as far as being owned by Cavi, practice, practice practice.....but don't try to get there quicker then your abilities permit, I am sure no one wants to hear of you hurting yourself

Blazinjr-

How exactly did you build your Neon to "drag race"?  Slap a N20 kit on it and call it a day?  If you went to an Auto-X you might learn how to do something other than hold a certain RPM off the line, shift at a certain RPM and fight torque-steer.  I've been drag racing, I know what it entails, certainly not any deeper than Friday night Test-n-Tunes at Famoso, but I've made enough runs to know what you are talking about.

I'm all for speeding on the freeways, I regularly hit 85-90 while on the 5 coming/going to LA or San Diego.  I know what you are saying too about doing these street drags out of most of the public's way.  There is still that chance there, and you did admit to riding aggressively trying to keep up with the Cavalier??????

Oh, BTW, I'm 20...Not a hippie...I just don't want to be smashed by you or one of your 30 yr old ricer friends when you finally do make that mistake.

That's MY point.  You aren't perfect, not saying I am, but I do what I can to keep my shaZam! from affecting other people's lives.

I highly suggest doing what you need to do to get into an event. I'm not a saint by any means, but auto-x is just pure fun and I also drag race my car (legally). I just hate working the course. Auto-x is still more of a rush. Drag racing is not as much of a rush because of the slow speeds. At least to me, the only rush is the launch on slicks and hitting the shifts. That feels real nice, but the rest of the run is just so so. It's fun because you want to improve. But auto-x feels like a car chase in the movies. I have yet to take my car open tracking and if and when I do, I'll bust a nut so hard, my windows will get covered with goo and I'll end up crashing.

Strut tower braces front & rear
ported intake w/56mm TB
3 inch CAI with filter
EGR removed
polution equipment removed
Kirk long tube header
2.5 Dynomax piping
2.5 Dynomax bullet muffler
Aspec SS muffler
Mopar PCM/ switching back to a 98 R/T PCM for N20
MPX UDP
NGK plugs Accel wires
KYB struts
Mopar Performance X-high rate springs
Neon R/T sway bars front and rear.
Nitrous Express Mainline kit 50-75 hp jetting
MSD rpm window switch

I have a few more extras(purge kit, blowdown tube, extra jets) for the N2O kit and having it Dyno tuned this winter or spring.  I have used it a couple times but not at the track.

This spring I am planning a new clutch and a phantom grip to be installed and a investment in a set of drag radials.

I race cars on the street sometimes and i dont care what you guys say, sometimes it just has to be done. I am 19 years old, i am young, and i find it fun, sure i can get hurt but its a risk i take. You guys who say racing is bad and all that crap, like you guys never raced anyone 20 years ago when you guys were my age. Lighten up on the guy. Let him do what he wants.  :x
