All the different guys I talk to say it is better to start off in the Stock class.  I do not want to put the car back to stock condition to do that then put everything back on it to run at the dragstrip.  All I would get done is switching back and forth.

I agree but I do watch when and where I do it.

Most of the guys I run with do not have subcompacts and imports and are not ricers.  Most are GM RWD cars and trucks and a few Ford Mustangs

"ricer" has no connection with owning import car......however it has lots of correlation with putting bunch of stickers and a fart pipe on any economy car or a truck, and rev at every sports car at the stop light

I do agree that drag racing is a sport, but just like you don't put pads on and challange every passer buyer to a tackling drill, you don't race people off the stop lights.....two d###heads on rx8's racing almost killed a rider not too far from where i live, when a speed limit is 40, any one who is doing 120 is endangaring MY life needlessly.

$20 bucks for a few hours at the track isn't that bad, killing some one because you want to show off in front of some dude in Cavalier is

I was not showing off.  I got behind him on the way to work and he passed a car and I followed him and he pulled away from me.  I would catch him through the corners then he would pull away from me again.  He accelerated faster than me above 85 mph.  That is what I stated before.  It was not a drag race from a dead stop.  It was from 80 mph and above.

yup definately agree with gazingwa here......

also, gs will never be able to race anything at 85 mph plus, if thats the speeds you were traveling at, you'll almost guaranteed a loss.....I think any car on the road has top speed over 105, so you are SOL in the top speed runs.  at the same time, you can beat most of the cars from 0 to 60 off the stop light, so there is no need to race then either

Actually from the description (passing someone going 85) it sounds like he way on the highway.

If that Cavalier was a 5-speed then yeah I could see it beating a GS at those speeds. On the other hand I think that a GS (my GS anyway    ) will beat a compact car with an automatic transmission at just about any speed... my parents' old Corolla was a 4-speed automatic, it would top out at ~100mph, just like the GS.

Man, you need to put a 15 tooth sprocket in there... it's like $20 and 20 minutes to install... instant torque boost and some have said it helps rather than hurts the top end.

Then again, maybe I shouldn't be encouraging you to go faster...

I wish there was a track or place locally that you could do top speed tests on vehicles.  Too bad I don't live near the Salt flats, that would be awesome.

I think I am going to take milos advice and get the 15 tooth sprocket get it jetted and get a better filter.

Although I am still considering getting another bigger bike, and I think I may have decided what it is.

I have a71 Buick GS convertible. Its a muscle car. I am 29. I will light up the tires (not so much anymore as 20" tires cost too much!) occasioanlly when no one is around or at the cruise spot where it is expected and accepted and people don't get in the way. Race a bike on the street? are you friggin nutz? nothing is dumber. 4 people were killed recently here in Oklahoma when a drunk driver crossed the median and hit 3 bikers. both car occupants were killed and 2 bikers were killed. A bike hitting a car can kill the car occupant. lay your bike down and get run over? if your 30, its time to get some brains. Just don't do stupid shaZam!. I drive fast on the highway, pop the tripples occasionally, only if I'm alone and the road is desolate.

two weeks ago i leaned my lesson up agiast a zx 600rr spanked him to third gear then he went bye with his wheel in the air and his middle fingure in my face then at 100 my rod expoded in half and the motor locked up what a ride now i need a new motor wich sucks royal nutz  :nana:
