Well, I was in a bit of a hurry, and I was carrying saddlebags and a backpack, and was excited because today I was going to finish my $1 dollar tankbag, so basically I was loaded and forgot that I had a lock on the front wheel.

Not that I forgot that the lock was still on, but that I completely forgot that I had a lock on the first place.
When I was ready to take off, I felt the gs a bit weird.. like it was 'locking' (not even that gave me a clue), so not knowing what it was, I added a bit of throttle and slowly heard a snap and saw a thing flying on the side...

then I remembered

with the next lock, I will add a ribbon to my finger.

The GS is fine. Not even a scratch (I checked in the brake pads and the metal around).

:P
Caturday yet?

btw, this is how I had the lock before:

Yeah, i think we've all forgotten the disc lock at one time or another.

You might want to get a real motorcycle disc lock for next time, given how easily that combination lock popped off the bike.

I don't own one... but the Zena disc lsock has a motion sensor and alarm.  Hopefully, it would start shrieking when you take the bike off the stand.

Heh... after I posted.. I looked on E-bay to see if you can buy one of those tags...

And they have them specificly for motorcycle locks! :)

Sounds as though your GS saved your wallet by not breaking, and YOU  made yourself late to work. :P:P:P

I'm glad there was no damage (except to the lock)!!!  :thumb:

I have a Zena alarm lock. Works well, but the sensor is very sensitive, even slight movement of the bike/wheel or if you aren't fast enough getting it locked and the key out will set it to screaming.

get one of those locks that has the long neon orange cable in the package. Loop one end around the lock and the other around your handle bar.

If you try to ride away with a big orange cable under your right hand, nothing can save you.

That would be me...  I'm still waiting for the day I forget to put my helmet on.

what's the point of that lock?...if the thieve wants to steal your bike...the same thing would happen...and he'll be riding off with it...

go out and buy a real disc lock if you wanna lock it up...no point in going half way
