i love the pipe for the sheer "HUH?" factor i get out of people. i had sombody tell me the other day "hey, nice buell" and the shop that made the bends for the middle section had to ask what make of bike it was. it's weird, i like it.

Do you know what year the shock is off of?  The remote reservoir looks exactly like the one I haven't installed yet because I'm short a banjo bolt.  I'm gonna try finding one, but if I don't have any luck, would you be interested in the body/reservoir for parts?

the can sounds nice, not loud, because i don't like loud, but kinda deepish, i've heard it called throaty. i need to get a sound clip on here somhow.

the shock is off of a 1992 gsxr 750, it was ok when i first slapped it on, then a guy i used to work with recharged it with nitrogen (he does suspension and re valving on the side) made a hugh difference, it's nice.

installing it, not as nice. pantablo has some such info on his web site, i think he said (going from memory) that he used a 93 gsxr 750 shock on his bike, and there was almost no end to the clearence issues (which i can attest to) and that it was possibly too hard for street use. I weigh alot more than pantablo, i think it works fine for street use. if you can get the banjo and get it togher i would say go for it.

Did you install it before your pods?  I'm still stock box equipped, although might have the money to go to pods here soon if need be for the shock.

I'm 185-190lb, where are you weight-wise, if I may ask?

I like the paint scheme and colors! I kinda had a  :?  at first about the can like Church6360, but suddenly I like it!
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

i tip the scales at a large framed 250 ish pounds. so the difference between how pantablo and I view the rear shock's chacteristics is considerable.

MK1inCali i'm not quite sure of your question, so here goes an attempted answer.  (thinking back in time)...

My bike came with the stock airbox, minus the filter. yes, no air filter. it had some mystery jets in it, 140 main? (didn't even look like the right kind for this carb based on what i've seen) stock pilots, no washers under needle. and the exhaust was rashed and drilled out.

so i first added pod filters (better than no filter) and modded the stock airbox to fit around them (sort of). at this point the airbox was mostly a splash gaurd to keep water away from the filter.

lots of downtime passed

srinath sent me an excelent jet kit. i removed the rest of the airbox (it was in my way) i cut off my exhaust right before the stock can and ran straight pipes for two weeks, very loud.

i think the jetting was a little lean at that point.

i then added the rear shock.
and took the bike to get the bends made and the exhaust welded.

then i recharged the rear shock.

the rear shock does not interfere with the airbox, at least i never noticed any problem, but i don't know it may just be the angle at which my banjo fittings are on there.

right now, my jetting is a little too rich ( i think ). 150 main, 40? pilot, 2.5 turns out on mixture screws? it's late, i can't remember.

i mihgt have answered your question, ummm if i didn't just let me know.

thanks for all the compliments, i wanted a junkyard streetfighter multi brand hybrid. somthing mostly suzuki,  but that looked like it had some honda for lunch along the way.

next up,  buell city x headlights, or cheap fog lights to replace the stocker, or both!

P.S. i really need to find a gs500 that runs correctly to compare my bike to, i really don't think mine does or ever has run correctly, i'm just used to it being the way it is that i don't mind it's weirdness.

don't get me wrong it doesn't run bad, but i don't know how long it was run without air filter before i bought it, i don't  know if any damage was done. anybody around toledo gimme a shout!

I like the overall look but think the can looks unfinished in contrast to the rest of the bike. I'd paint it flat black so it was as "finished" as the rest.

I think my gsxr shock worked good for me because it surely needed recharging. probably would have been way overkill for me fully charged. I suspected as much so never bothered.

looks good overall though.
