Been working on my shifting technique with my "new" 03 zx-6r

Now this was not possible for me with the GS since there are too many false neutrals.
with the propper clutch adjustment i apply a light pressure with my foot on the gear shifter (pulling up) before i shift, i BARELY and i mean BARELY tug at the clutch lever just as I release the throttle and the bike slips into the next gear, using this method makes shifting a seemless transition and I can barely feel it change gears at all with little rpm loss. When I owned my gs I would hit way to many false neutrals doing this, but on the 636 it makes for a very smooth and enjoyable ride with little effort put into pulling the clutch in at all.

lets her the feedback!

Ever since reading a couple of articles on clutchless shifting, I started doing that on my bikes.  The GSXR is shifting nirvana without the clutch.

I do it in my car all the time    I just let off the gas, and I can get it right in most gears with no grind or push back  :thumb:  :thumb:  FUN

i still gotta use my clutch, clutchless requires more effort put into the actual shift

I have been doing it cluchless on my GS since I started, (April this year, 9,256 miles) just have to match RPMs kinda close.

I shift clutchlessly all the time on my GS, as I did in my Firebird.  Works great for me and I get solid shifts every time.

I gotta try this, can anyone link some more in-depth instructions?

Yeah on a gixxer it just begs for those full throttle clutchless upshifts, feels alot better than usuing the clutch.

mostly clutchless here too. sometimes I've clutchless downshifted too, but see no real benefit to that so I stopped. If I dont clutchless I do it like 04gs500f does-very light on the clutch. I find clutchless to be even smoother but really requires hard throttle (not completely full throttle though-not for when just cruising).

For the life of my GS (1200 miles) I have always used the clutch. I didn't think it was safe or thought I was messing somethin up by not using the clutch. And that is how I learned at the MSF. This is actually the first time I have heard of this.

Questions?:
1. Will clutchless shifting mess up the tranny? Is is Safe?
2. Do you still release the throttle when you clutchless shift?
3. Do you clutchless shift downshifting, upshifting or both?
4. Is there any benefit to this, besides just not using the clutch?

Answers appreciated, thanks.

Only use it for shifting up I got a huge WHACK when I shifted down without the clutch. It's only good to use in a "racing" situation, you keep the throttle cranked. Besides not using the clutch for upshifting which results in a bit more life out of your clutch, it feels incredibly smooth.

my method is great for commuting, for it seems clutchless does require hard riding to work well

This is the link that convinced me to try it.

Upshifting works fine for me at just about any RPM without the clutch.  I have to be hammering it for downshifting to work; I don't do it for downshifting much.

That's funny, someone sent me that linka and even though I couldn't believe it, it was really easy to do. I've done it very casually on my GS and for me all I did was get off the throttle, up shift, and then get back on the throttle. It surprised me how smooth it felt. I stopped doing it because my mind couldn't comprehend not using the clutch even though when I use the clutch it feels rough and I'm not doing a good job (still a noob only 200 miles), but when I do this it's so smooth.

Well seeing as others seem to be using it, I guess I start using it more often now and make it habit.
