Indy GS

So I'm going Sat. to get my new bike.  Gotta call Tuesday to finalize everything.  Getting a Raven Black 2006 YZF600R.  Comfortable, fast enough for me and exactly what I want.  Still trying to sell the GS (see for sale section here and cycletrader.com for ads if you are looking).  If not I'll have it lowered and get the wife to learn on it.  Anyways, this site has been great for getting the GS in tip top shape.  Thanks for all the help.

Congrats !  I have been looking at the yzf also.  What made you choose this bike?  Did you look at any others?

Indy GS

I sat on a bunch.  YZF is the most comfortable of them all.  I tested out the ZZR600, hated the riding position, thought about an 800 Drifter, didn't want to do the cruiser thing.  Plus all the new sport bikes are way more expensive and a little too much for my experience.  So the YZF will be perfect.  I'll let you know next week how much I like it.

Thanks.  That would be great.  It seems like a good all arounder.  Take some pics of the bike and of the riding position.

Congrats and you'll have to let us know how it is

Grats on the new bike!
I've only heard good things about it, personally I've been looking for a bigger bike as well and my 2 final choices would be a CBR F4I or the YZF, gonna get a riding day next year to comepare (I'm at shcool now) but let me know what ya think of it, and take pics!

It seems the urge to try something new hits everyone at different rates.  The great thing about the GS500 is that it lets you learn without the problem of an errant input causing a sport-ending event.

Be sure to take your time and learn what's different about your new ride.  You're dealing with twice the power in much the same package.

Old Mr. Wilson

Get Out and don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.
This is a Suzuki GS500 Forum.  Many of us old farts are extremely happy with our machines.

You, however, have envisioned all the townspeople turned out  cheering you across the finish line and all the women want to be  impaled on your 18 inch phallus. And all the men want to be in your position and all the little boys want "to be you".

You are living in a pretentious fantasy world. Get thee hence. We no longer know thee.  Leave this forum and never return.  Love, Wilson
Taxes are Good. Millions that have been on Welfare for the last 30 years are depending on you. Also Millions that are coming over the border each year are depending on YOU.
Also taxes will fix our shitty schools and roads that have been broken for 40+ years.

You really don't get it do you???

My mom had a YZF600R, 02 edition in black and silver.  Great bike!  Very smooth and easy to ride.

Not a big fan of the I4 buzz at extended freeway speeds, but that's personal twin preference.

Enjoy!

A friend of mine got one of those for his first bike.  He loves it.  He was able to learn how to ride on it and now he is a pretty good rider.

great choice. If I had the money, I'd buy a a Ninja 636 for sport riding and a FZR600 for commuting.

etam

just curious... what make you pick YZF600R over FZ6? full-body fairings?

JetSwing

isn't this the last year of YZF600R? have you consider that?
My hunch was right...Pandy is the biggest Post Whore!

Indy GS

Yes I've considered that, that's why I want one.  I like the full fairings over the FZ6s half, and supposedly there is more midrange in the YZF.  Plus I've wanted one for awhile.

As for Author Message Old Mr. Wilson go f*** yourself.  I still own the GS, may keep it for the wife now.  So bite me.  I'm not knocking the GS, I don't think I'm better than people on a GS, i just wanted a bigger bike so I didn't get blown all over the highway like I do now.  So mind your own business and like my mother said 'If you don't have anything nice to say don't say it at all'.  Ass.

For the rest of you I'll have a report this friday. Wife doesn't want me spending the money, but the raven color is getting hard to find.
