shifting from 5-6 gear

I've noticed when riding around and it happened on my way home today that when I shift from 5-6 sometimes and get back on the throttle the engine revs up like it's in neutral then after like a second or less i can feel it kick into gear all of the sudden. Never happened in any other gear other than 1-2 but I'm actually going into neutral there and I have to shift to 2nd gear...This happen to anybody else?

This can happen to me when I'm tired and shifting "weakly."  I found I have to be "firm but gentle" making those shifts.  Make sure the lever travels the whole way, and it's fine for me.  YMMV.
