ALIENS!!!

I went over there the other day...  But, I don't have a camera worth using at night. :(

groff22

Question, what on earth do you do that allows you to ride so many bikes?? :)

and can you get me a job there?

You don't want one here, really...

It's a matter of sacrificing in other areas to do bikes.  And being smart about buying and selling (I wasn't smart about buying the F650, and I lost my shirt. Lesson learned).

I get to come to Seattle  :)  for a work meeting thingie :( .  So I have basically one free day for sightseeing.  I am planning on going to the Museum of Glass in Tacoma.  Are there any other vital tourist spots I need to hit?  Secret non-touristy fun places?

You should come hang out!!

A friend of mine went to the Museum of Glass...  he said it was the stupidest thing he's ever seen.

We have the Asian Art Museum, the Seattle Art Museum, the Museum of Flight...  I'm sure there are a few more...

The aquarium sucks too...  (as does most of the crap on the water-front) Unless you're a six year old kid...  Then it's cool.

And we have gratuitous Chihulys scattered about.  We can show you the sights.  :)

Nothing as good as the Art Institute in Chicago, but fun stuff.

Yes, it is annoying that a port city has such a lousy aquarium.

Jake D

Chilhulys.  Go to Gas Works.  Go to Belltown, Flight Museum is okay.  Go visit the UW campus and eat some Tai food.  Go to Alki Beach.  Fish Market.  Experiance Music.  The crappy thing about Seattle is there is no place to get drunk!  Doesn't anybody get drunk there?  Sheesssh.

Plus a can of Skoal costs like $10.  WTF.

Dragonfish.  Open until wee hours.

The place we went for my PI's promotion party was open until 2, but it moved to Capitol Hill.  Which is another good place to hang out.  Oh, make sure you stop by Babeland.  Across from BMW Seattle.  The best sex shop I've ever been to.

Jake D

Personally, I don't (ever) go to Capital Hill when I am in Seattle.  But that's just how I roll.

Dragonfish, huh?  I'll have to check that out.  I usually just get drunk on my buddy's front porch in West Seattle.

Belltown?  For what?     When was the last time you were in Belltown?  It's just a condo farm now...  Well...  You can still find any drug you want and the occasional hooker, but it's mostly a condo farm.

Gasworks is cool for a drive-by...  Just like the Troll.

The Flight Museum is cool if you're into that stuff.   :thumb:

Pike Place (where the fish market lives) is fun in a dirty, smells like piss and rotting fish sort of way.

EMP is boring even for music geeks.

You can get drunk all over the place...  Next time you're in town, catch a cab to the Hill...  There are TONS of bars up there.  And only 15% of them are ghey bars.

And...  You need to go to Spokane for Skoal.

Oh, that's why you think there's nothing to do here!    90% of the things worth doing in an urban sense and the bars worth going to are up there.  It's not all about ghey culture, although it's certainly a very ghey-friendly area.

What's wrong with the hill?  I live there!  :)

Don't go to the glass museum.  I fuggin hate that guy.

Pike Place is worth seeing.  I haven't been to the art museum in years, but I remember it being good.  There are plenty of places to get drunk.  I'm not a huge fan of Alki beach.  It's dirty, and a pretty lame beach.  But if you wanna see squids, they love to troll up and down there.  Belltown has decent restaurants.  There is a lot of good food in Seattle, so be sure to eat some.  Thai, Indian (well, in the U district, anyone know of any good Indian downtown), Japanese, some good Mexican.  Hit up the international disctrict (Chinatown), there's lot of good (and some kinda shady) food there.  +1 to the Museum of Flight.

Err, that's all off the top of my head.  Seattle is a lot smaller town than it thinks it is.

Snap!  I've been dupped!
You see, I was lead to believe that if I went there, I'd never want to return.  Come to think of it, the biggest homophobe I've ever met made this statement.

This warrants a return trip to Seattle.  I better start looking on line.
The one thing I thought your town was missing was night life.  I've been dupped.

Hookers and drugs?  :thumb: Just kidding.

No, Gas Works is cool because that is where they shot the "should we get married scene" in Singles right before Kevin Bacon's wife gets crushed by the guy running the red light.  I go there every time.

I'm actually whelmed with the Indian food in the U district.  But Devon Avenue will spoil you.  The best Indian place I've found is Masala, sitting - god help us - right next to Northgate Mall.

The best mediterranean place I've found is Aladdin's Gyro-cery.  Terrific veggie fare.

aaronstj

Aladin's is some good stuff.  Everyone loves that place.  The gyro place in the market is pretty good, too.  People that I work with like the gyro's at the Mediterranean Mix in pioneer square.  They're decent, but what they've really got going in a fantastic cheesesteak, of all things.

+1 For using the word "whelmed."  Try Taste of India or Cedars in the U District.  That's the seriously good shaZam!.  I'll have to give Masala a try, though.  I do love me some Indian.

Going to Capitol Hill won't give you teh ghey.  It is a really liberal place, but it's laid back.  I like the neihborhood a lot.  But then, I also like teh gays.  Not sexually, I just think they're cool people.   :)

There are a lot of cool places up there...  But, the best part is that when one is tired, you walk up/down/over to a different one.

:thumb:

Except for the Cha... That place always sucks.
