i don't have mirrors on my bike at all, so if you're going to hit me from behind do it fast so there's no pain or so i don't look stupid on your hood. I actually do need to get some bar end mirrors though. Personally i pull up to one of the corners of the car in front of me... practically on the line to the right or left. Which ever is appropriate.

here's a good lane splitting tutorial:

lesson 1: splitting cars and trucks
lesson 2: splitting scooter and motorcycles
lesson 3: splitting a cop on a bike
lesson 4: how to run red lights

bonus: how to do splitting/wheelies combo

conclusion: you will never have to sit in traffic worrying about getting hit from behind

I've seen that video before. That is CRAZY. There's another one on UpOnOne.com too, and I heard the guy died sometime after the second one.

I've got a mirror on my bike that offers me a very fulfilling view of my elbow. It's kind of annoying, but it is better than nothing.
