Aww! That sucks, Pablo! Ah the benefits of having junk bodywork, eh? Hope you feel better.

Maybe we can mail a card all around the country, have people sign it and then mail it on to the next person in line. At the end we can mail it to Pablo. It will be about a year after he heals before he gets it due to the postal system, but I bet he'd laugh his ass off in a year.

Heal up quick Pablo! And keep that arm in a sling. Collar bones take forever to heal if you don't keep it immobile...at lease mine did!

Hate to hear it man, hope you heal well. :thumb:

get better quick pablo. hope you and your bike made it through with minor cosmetic damage, no bent frame for YOU or your BIKE.
heal up.
The final measure of any rider's skill is the inverse ratio of his preferred Traveling Speed to the number of bad scars on his body. It is that simple: If you ride fast and crash, you are a bad rider. And if you are a bad rider, you should not ride motorcycles.

Pablo,

Hope you heal quickly. You've been a constant here since I first came on board. Take it slow and don't let Hugo jump on you.

goddamnit, it hurts when I laugh! You guys are a funny bunch...oh my god...

You heard right. I fell right on my shoulder and was looking up-close-and-personal-like with the asphalt before I knew it. Got up right away but had the wind knocked out of me bad. tried to pick up the bike and thats when I knew it was bad...then my eyes dialated. The sensation of my vision fading to white freaked me out a little. Came back just as easily 5-10 minutes later.

well, you're all curious as to what specifically happened, I'm sure. So here it is.

I was dicing it up with a guy, John, I had met once or twice before. He was on a 'tard and we were keeping a good pace. Zoom-Zoom allows inside passing in the B group (6ft clear though). Bad Idea IMO. In an attempt to keep in front of me, John was making very bad passes, stuffing people badly. I had just gotten past him exiting the Esess and we were heading tward the final (left) turn, catching up to a few riders (gixxers...of course they were getting lapped...). I went to the far right side, the racing line, and John came in really deep on the inside line...I mean he was all the way over a the inside edge of pavement, going into the turn. I saw him and knew it wasn't good-for him.

Sure enough, John loses the front and slides BETWEEN the two riders. The second rider slams his brakes as he stands it up, locking his wheels up. This is where I made my fatal error. Instead of focusing down the straight and committing to a tighter line, or looking off the turn and standing it up, riding it out into the dirt...Instead of that, I tried to stop the bike while focused on the bike in front of me. At the last minute I decided to try making the turn. As soon as I let off the brakes the front went out from under me and I was slammed to the ground, onto my left side.

Ultimately I blame a series of things. I am partly to blame for continuing the cat-and-mouse with John. He is partly to blame for riding like an ass. Zoom-zoom is partly to blame for inside passing allowed in B group (I just dont think thats a good idea with fast riders that dont have the skill and judgement of racers). Fault lies with me though, most of all.

Damage to me, besides collarbone is bruising on right butt cheek (from tumbling?) and to me left rib/back area.

Damage to bike (as best we looked at it so far), track fairings (L side, tail, upper) scuffed. Upper missing 3" chunk, making it two peices, also cracked in 2 places. passenger peg scraped. Frame slider and swingarm spool carried the bike, protecting from more damage. Front fender scraped, L barend snapped off, L switchgear missing small cap. Varius fairing screws either missing or ground up a bit. Starts up and runs fine. A more thorough examination is necessary. I'll need help patching up the fiberglass upper though.

thats it for now. Fontana trackday Nov 26th is iffy, depending on recovery...

so, no, I wasnt stuffed and yes, I protected the bike! :thumb: no, tires were plenty warm and I was not riding at 10/10ths pace because I am a cautious passer. Track plastics paid for themselves yesterday! I knew it was only a matter of time-I dont hold very much back when I'm at the track. Thats why I go.

All of your concern anw well-wishes is very touching, really. You're a special group...okay, actually davipu is short-bus special.... :nana:

Sheesh!!  Glad you're ok...

Maybe they'll reconsider their policies...  Nah, probably not.

Heal up and go whoop that guy's ass.   :guns:

NESBA doesn't allow passing on the inside until you get to the A(dvanced) group, FWIW.  Passing on the straights only for the B(eginner) group.  I think that's a good idea, m'self.

Ja, after I bought a back protector, I thought "I'm going to feel stupid if a car hits me and I have a $250 protector in my closet," so I just wear it everywhere.

pantablo

actually, this is the ONLY org I've ever come across that allowed inside passing in the intermediate group (B group). they still have a "must be 6ft clear for a safe pass" rule but you know how it is on the track...you lose judgement in order to make a pass sometimes...

I will be telling them my feelings (I did enjoy myself until that time) and do hope they change their policies.

Blueknyt

the passes should be allowed on outside only and never before a S.   If you push too far on outside and tank it, much less chance of taking anyone else with you.
Accelerate like your being chased, Corner like you mean it, Brake as if you life depends on it.
Ride Hard...or go home.

Its you Vs the pavement.....who wins today?

Glad to hear your OK Pablo. I got the call from Will while I was still at work, said that you had gone down. Glad it wasnt as bad as it could have been and i'm sure ill see you on the track again soon :). (15th at buttonwillow :) is my next)
