Has anyone attempted and survived trying a wheelie on these GS's?  I know these aren't great in lowend power, but there has to be someone who's done this...

And no...  I'm not a squid...  I plan on trying these out at the tracks in like a couple years, maybe decades..

you can wheelie anything.  Witht eh 47 tooth sprocket on the back of my 38hp ratbike I can do power wheelies...

With the EX I have to roll about 5~10mph and then clutch it up.

With my TL I have to "not" do wheelies.  Interesting turn in the ways things work...

Sure you can wheelie a GS. Do a search for it and you will find all sorts of people talking about it  :thumb:  I've done some crappy clutch wheelies, but it didn't live up to the excitement I had imagined  :P

they are painful to the GS, its not really built for that abuse.   do a search on wheelies and you will come up with all sorts of details and arguments on it.
Accelerate like your being chased, Corner like you mean it, Brake as if you life depends on it.

check in the wall of fame, i am in there doing wheelies on my bike. its a red bike, one pic is really blurry but the other is better.

Phaedrus

I think there are a couple members who use an avatar of them doing wheelies on their GS. Bob Broussard and Budget Speed Demon come to mind?

i would also go to stuntlife.com if i were you and read there wheelie threads.  they have a couple as stickies on wheelies.  they have a help and how to section that you can post in also.

I've done a crappy one by dropping the clutch at decent revs, scared the crap out of me though    And stoppies don't seem to go over too well, theres a lot of vibration without a damper. Burnouts work pretty well though if you lean forward enough on the pegs.

With the gs you have to pull the clutch in rev up the bike and then very quickley let go of the clutch. When I had my gs a did a few by accident coming off traffic lights. I don't try to do them deliberately because I don't want to crash.

I just wanted to add something here. I am able to pull the front wheel up pretty well on my 81 honda c70 scooter that is out of tune. It has a beastly 72 cc motor that puts out an incredible 5 HP to the rear wheel and can get to a top speed of 45 mph in under 3 minutes. Of course I have to stand on the rear pegs, lean way back and stick my ass out and nail the throttle, but I'm just saying that if I can ride a wheelie on that for 3 feet, you can get one off on the gs.

I would never try on mine because it's new, but the point is that you can do it.

Just my .02. I have pictures but it was dark and they're hard to really see. But it's funny to watch, I would assume.

put your left foot on the rear peg, right on the brake, then roll along about 10mph, then crack on the throttle, and pull up at the same time, you might wanna jam your toe in the passenger rear grab bar as it comes straight up!!! but yeah i can now even shift gears while in the air, but at about 140kph it's too hairy to go any further, the wind feels like it's gonna blow you over backwards!!! but yeah just pull up and crack on it!!

:cookoo: Why would you want your foot on the back brake??? And jam your foot in the grab bar as it comes up??? I dont know.. but when most people wheelie the back end goes down, not up  :dunno_white:

You cover your back brake in case you give a bit too much power or too much lean as a way to meter height and as a last line of defense from flipping.  I believe there was sarcasm in the jamming of your toe in the grab bar.

He's right about covering the rear brake. You use that to keep the bike from going to 12 o'clock and knocking you on your ass. It's a balancing trick, along with using the throttle to keep the front end up.

As for putting your foot under the passenger grab bar, I'd have to say no. That's a trick that stunters do, but there's not a reason for it. It doesn't improve your ability to wheelie, and I'd advise against it for guys who can't even wheelie their gs. It just sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. Save those and tank wheelies for later.

i always put my left foot in the grab bar, helps me maintain most of my weight over the rear end to keep her hanging longer!!! i find it the easiest was to idle along in first gear doing a wheelie!!! you can shift you weight back and forth to keep it up!!

wheelies hard on a gs ? ok ... my gs should be screaming at me now . i do one at least once a week . ( more like 2 or three times a week ) just for the heck of it . and i'v had it since nov. bought it brand new . has almost 5 k miles on it . everything is still in check valves ,sprokets, chain, shocks .. everything . second theres a link with me doing a few wheelies . one sitting down two standing up . its easy and takes little effort . keeping it up is the trick . get use to getting it up before you try any thing
