Easy fix?

I found this katana 750 on CL. And I was wondering how easy (and how expensive) it would be to fix what was wrong.
I figure, it could either be my second bike way down the road when I get a good year (at least) under my belt with the GS; or I could fix it and sell it for some sort of profit.

What do you guys think?

2006 SV650 K6....Finally back up and running!!! Now let the mods flow!

werase643

that is pretty much dirt cheap
get the front end for yourself and part out the bling....
also the swingarm just might fit....super bling

check the clutch basket.....
the shift forks/shift drum
want Iain's money to support my butt in kens shop

skoebl

So I'll take that as "don't pass up this opportunity"?  :)

As far as checking the clutch basket and whatnot; is that related to what's wrong with it?

SURLY BRUCE SEZ BUY NOW ! I would get her back on the road and sell for$ 2500.00-$ 3500.00. That what the market is like for bikes around here. [EAST COAST CANADA ] Or you could keep the bike and think of the GS 500 when you ride it .

Sounds like the shift forks are worn. They can be replaced but the cases would have to be split. I would buy it to part it out. The parts alone are worth at 3-4 times the initial cost. Some people do like chrome stuff. He did not mention if it had a clean title or not.
Common sense in not very common.

I doubt if that bike will ever see the street again, when they get that cheap there's almost always something worse than what the seller mentions.  On the plus side, for $350, there's a shaZam! ton of stuff you can use.

Don't be so sure...I bought my bike for $100 and originially the guy thought the engine was seized but it ended up being a broken valve seat and bent valves. Bob was nice enough to send me a head and I had my bike back on the road in no time...

Beautiful frankenkat potential right there.  If nothing else, a good part-out investment.  I'd jump on it.

Alphamazing

Get it! Hell, upgrading your GS's suspension and selling the rest would give you some profit. Plus... UPGRADED SUSPENSION! Yeaah!

Buy it for the parts, use the front end. sell off some other parts, im sure someone will take the head off your hands for a FrankenGS650 project. i wouldnt mind the tank, front fender, and front body panels. but really cant afford it right now.

Kinda off topic, but although katana's are horribly ugly with the fairing, does anyone ease see the potential for a really mean street fighter here? The frame is like a sculpture, although something would have to be done about that rear end. I like how the tank sits too.

Stealth GS parts include;carbon fiber headlight faring, chin spoiler,V&H full system,NHK steeringdamper, titan solo racetail,cbrF2 carbon fiber chainguard, proformance forksprings with emulators,SS front brake line, gsxr remote reservoir rear shock, pirelli sport demons,79mm pistons(555cc)-more to come

budget speed demon

wow thats nice. I cant seem to find a pic of the finished product but this is what I'm talking about;

add a tail and a head light and thats one mean street fighter. leave the carbs all exposed like that... I think it would be really cool

...you can do another search for "waltari" and find the rest of the pics of that bike.  He's a rgular on TLPlanet and various katana forums.

...can't believe he's selling.

I'll see what I can find...his shaZam! seems to get real elusive.  He doesn't post much anywhere I frequent.

makenzie71

as much as I can find easily...I'm buying some parts from him, though, so I'll ask him to head over here and post up or to give me a full scoop.

That's a Bandit 1200 motor, btw...
