Thanks for all your help, it turns out that my friend knew of an insurance company that will insure a SS for 1400 full coverage so I am thinking of getting a 2001 CBR 600 F4i (following in the foot steps of the Big P) I may be getting it next week if all goes well I found one for a really good deal so we'll see if it's all in order or not.

Oh and it's red, which is the fastest colour.  :)

RedShift

Great choice.  May the winter be short lived.

Let us know your impressions.  Suggest you give it a try on the Forks of the Credit when the weather improves.  Respect the power under you and you'll have a long and enjoyable relationship.

....hmmm...I'm pretty sure another member here has an 01 CBR600 f4i for sale....good price too at $3700....I don't know where Kingston / Hamilton is.....but the bikes in Cali 'bout 2 hrs south of Sacramento....

SV 1000s are sick looking with the fairing kit on it! There is one, naked, where i got my gs...I recently went in there for my 4000 mile maintinence and the SV 1000 had the fairing kit on it....sick. :thumb: :thumb:

That's a good insurance price for a SS, what company? Is it a 1 time thing?
I'm w/ Kingsway atm, and as far as I can tell my rates match yours for most of the bikes, although for my next bike I'm looking at the new 675 from Triumph.. Gonna wait another year to see how it fairs it's first season though.
If you're looking at an F4i, you might want to look for a Yami 600 YZF as well, there seem to be plently around in the trader.
Either way, let me know what you choose and how it adds up b/c next year it'll be my turn.

Also not the jack the thread, (will get one going when season starts up here) but I am thinking of a meet for ppl around TO in summer.

My bro has a 01 F4i... not in red tho. But anyways he really loves it and I'm sure would recomend it to anyone. I rode on the back for a day and thought it was friggin sweet myself. Good power range I thought.

I saw the CBR 2001 for sale but I'm in Ontario Canada...a bit far from Cali. As far as insurance I'm going with state farm as they are the only insurance company to still go by CC size there are two main problems with this though a) you must insure both your car and bike to get a really good deal and b) my friends and a lot of other people say it's really hard to collect from them. Since I drive a shaZam! box car '92 topaz and I don't plan on getting in any accidents (knock on wood) plus I wouldn't have full coverage with any other company b/c of cost it's worth it even if I have to kick and moan a bit to get me money.  I want the bike now!

Slavik

so you think you'll be equally happy with a pretty much full blow race bike (daytona 675, which was extremely cramped for my taste) and pretty much a sport tourer like vfr800?

if you would consider bikes with less performance then top of the line supersports, why not look into ZZR600 and YZF600R?,,,,,the zzr has no ninja designation, so cheaper insurance is very likely....

I am assuming you are not considering any naked bikes, because then you then you also have FZ's and Z750's to consider....as well as a couple of overpriced models from Honda (519's and such  :) )

whatever you pick, pick the bike that has as much support as your little GS, this board is great!

599?  Right?  And the 919?  Or is it 519?  I've gotten myself all crossed up.

I love those bikes.

YZF600 is  a cool bike.  IMO, perfect for what you seem to be looking for.

I know it may sound strange but I'm not a fan of banana seats, I ride a lot with passengers and I've riden my friends RC51 with a passenger and the up high seat makes a hug difference on fatigue as well as overall comfort. That's one of the reasons I'm not considering the Yamaha's, also there have been a lot of problems with yams that I've heard of. I'll never leave this board Jake D,  but I found a helpful CBR board and the Big P is always here to help me with my honda issues.

Speed Triple or the Daytona,  you'll at least be original.
