Hi,

I am going to be replacing the Front Forks on my 89' GS500E.
I am considering upgrading the springs to Progressive Springs and am curious if anyone has a pair for sale or maybe knows where I could buy a pair.
Please let me know either in this thread or by private IM.

Thank You
Derec

propose a price shipped that you are wiling to pay.  I am probably going to replace the progressives this summer.  I had them out a couple of weeks ago and they are not rusty and are not sacked.

Thanks for replying AprilIan.

I feel a little silly but it was my Best Friend who sold me the Bike and I just found out (from him) that he put a set of Progressive Springs in my Front Forks.  My current Forks are bent and I just ordered another set.  Once I get the new set and take apart the bent set I will know if the Progressive Springs are still good or not.

If they are good then I am planning to just put them in the new Forks...otherwise I will gladly make you an offer.
I imagine I will know in a couple weeks to a month.

Hi Derec,
Unless the tubes were bent all the way back into a C, I'd bet the Progressive springs inside are just fine. They are flexible and would unlikely be damaged in a crash.
Use them in good health!

Hi there,
Many online sources offer them, including Bike Bandit.
Here's a link:

And here is the Progressive Suspension info on the spring part number (Progressive Suspension part number) you need and other info:

Applications
SUZUKI
GS500E

   Applicable Notes: 1

Fork Spring

Fork Spring    :    11-1128
Spacers

They are a hugely worthwhile upgrade.

that aplication note (1) is to cut stock spacer to that length.  air gap is stock and fork oil is 10w.

Unless you're south of 160 lbs, I wouldn't go with progressive. I'm about 200lbs and I put some Progressives on my GS and was a bit disappointed. They aren't much stiffer than stock. They're cheaper than Racetech, (I paid about $85 total for the Progressives, Racetechs are about $120-130) but looking back, I would have spent the extra if I'd known how soft the Progressives were. You can add thicker oil and that would help a little, but the spring is still gonna be too soft and the front is gonna dip A LOT under hard braking unless you go with THICK oil in the forks.

Just my .02
00' SV650. Just sold the GS, but somehow I still miss it.

I just wanted to say Thank You to everyone who has responded.
I have found this place to be a very good resource for information as I learn about my Bike.
