My vibrating mirror noise is driving me INSANE

It's not any of the connections...  It's the actual mirror...  When I grab/squeeze/touch the mirror, the noise goes away.

Any quick-fix ideas for a mirror that makes crap-loads of noise?

You can get a set of perfect condition 2nd gen SV mirrors for $30 shipped. They look better too.

You can't tighten it any more? It just sounds loose. Is it the whole mirror stalk that is rattling, or is it the spot where the mirror connect to the stalk?

My coworker (with a 90 identical to my project)  complains about this also. He was planning on drilling a small hole in an inconspicuous location and gorping epoxy into the cavity to act as a damper. I recommended RTV instead. It is less viscous and has better vibration absorption.

He's been away for weeks so I don't know if he's done it, or if so, if it worked.

Someone replace the originals on mine with "MotoGP" brand mirrors. They are shorter than the stock Suz.

To answer your question...  It's the mirror vibrating in the housing around the mirror...  I might try to jam some RTV in there... Or something...

I really love the SV mirror, but I'm totally tapped right now.  My stupid F.O.R.D. Exploder cost me a big-o-pile of money just a few weeks ago...  Then I screwed up my bass cab and need a couple new speaks for it...     And I need to buy the wife a helmet, jacket, and gloves so she can ride with me...  :thumb:

The SV mirror is so far down the list I don't think I'll ever get it.

Well, if it is anything like the window in my car.. and i'm sure it's exactly like it ;) ... an old bank receipt shoved in there should do the trick.

Or.. you could try taking the mirror out and looking around in there and figuring out why it's making noise. Then use glue.

EDIT: Well, it's 4am, and other then working on my bike.. I looked at the mirrors. You might try just gluing around the edge of the mirror. They seem to be just glued in there.
