Does anyone have any advice on frame sliders?

Since I dropped my bike the first day I had it, and bent the handlebars (new one was 50 bucks), I decided I might want to buy my bike some protection from me. ;)  Are frame sliders a good idea because those metal engine protectors seem too bulky?  If so, do you guys have some reccomendations on a good set that isnt too expensive?

One more question... I ordered the handlebar from a site that gets its oem parts from suzuki, how long does it usually take with similar sites based on your experience?  The site is http://www.mrcycles.com/fiche_section_detail.asp?category=Motorcycles&make=Suzuki&year=1997&fveh=2104 if anyone has used it. Also it was the cheapest one I could find for new oem parts.

Thanks again guys... I hope once I learn more I can give back to this site as much as I am getting from it.

To bad frame sliders will do nothing for protecting handlebars. By design they are to protect the frame, not an issue with the GS. www.whaccessories.com has some but the best you can hope for is limited case damage. There is one design that werase643 and I were talking about the other day. Have not had time to work on it but they would fit behind my fairings.

Have not ordered from MrCycles yet. RonAyers takes about 3 days, so I guess it would be about the same since they are both only a couple of hundred miles away from me.
Common sense in not very common.

I am just fortunate that the handlebar was only 50 dollars. Being new, I was bound to drop it at somepoint anyway.  But, good thing the GS is so durable. Thanks for the advice.
