Well on friday pastrami and I took my bike out for a spin.  It was really a little cold but we did it anyway.  I didnt do to bad for the first time riding with a passenger.  I was really nervous because I didnt want to drop her lol.  The biggest difference that I noticed is how much sooner you have to brake!!!!!  I really wasnt expecting it to be that much.  For Pastrami's review see below:

AJ did really well...she's being modest. We went around the block the first time around and the bike wasn't quite warmed up yet. Turns were a bit wide but the second time around they were all cleaned up. Didn't scare me or anything.  :kiss3: Proud of my girl!

Well, I am glad you girls had fun. I dunno if Pastrami really counts as a "real passenger" though..I mean, does she even break the triple digits in weight?  Seriously though, cool stuff. And yeah, braking is much much different. I've had passengers on the back - both were prolly in the 110-130 weight class - and it was like wow! Combined with my weight (around 175) it took a while to stop for sure.

The GS is good at breaking, and is nimble too..can you imagine on a bike that doesn't handle or brake as well?  :dunno_white:

Is it harder to balance at stoplights and such?  I'm wanting to ride 2 up occasionally this spring.

Turd..heh. A little advice. Do NOT ride with an inexperienced person your first 2-up. Keep in mind, like in this case, Pastrami is a good motorcyclist herself. She grew up around them knows how to ride, and how to be a passenger. The passenger has a responsibility also. So for your first 2up, please, take someone that has been a passenger before.

anytime i take a person out nd its there 1st time on a bike i tell them dont squirm around to much, stay close to me, besure to use the pegs to put some weight on, otherwise they'll slide into you everytime u stop. Plus i give them a quick crash course in leaning, basically follow my lead and center of gravity when i move. other then that, grab my stomache tight if somethings wrong nd i need to stop for some reason.

Putting an unexperienced rider on the back of a bike when you're unexperienced at riding 2up is asking for trouble...Putting yourself on the back of someone's bike when you are unaware of their ability, squid rating, and experience is also asking for trouble. I never would have gotten on the back of AJ's bike if I wasn't confident in her riding ability and if I didn't trust her with my life. I'm glad she let me be her first passenger  :kiss3: .... On a side note...my seat is waaaay more comfortable!

lol yea i agree . before you go do a 2up eather do some short country road runs to get that person use to it and let them know what there doing wrong or what they can do better . my gf is use to riding Harleys and stuff and i told her ... dont freak out when i go around these corners ... she did well i was shocked :)  its when you get the ppl that freak out cuz your pretty layed over in a corner (sometimes you dont have to be ) and they start freaking out and trying to coutner balnce and ...well you know what happens when they do that .
