It's a legal open carry state.  As long as I don't go into alcohol serving establishments, schools, post offices or Federal buildings I can legally carry.

With all the shaZam! that goes on only 2 miles away from here (and all through So. Phoenix) there's no friggin way I wouldn't carry.  I'm not going to go down like a lemming.

I'm not really into guns, but I sure wouldn't mind carrying a paintball gun for those suckers that cut me off, that don't use their turn signals, or are just plain obnoxious. Ah yes, that would be ideal.

I carry whenever I leave the house and have since I was 21 yrs. old.  I have mixed feeling about open carry.  One point of view is that the exposed gun will deter others from illegal actions rendering the carrier safer.  The other way to look at it is if they know that you are carrying and want your gun they can blindside you....I like the element of suprise with concealed carry.    I think the choice should be up to the one carrying though.

BTW, I can do that in Texas, too, John...my typical carry is a .45, though.  I like it's punch a lot better than my 9's and I figure it'll be so rare that I'll have to shoot something that I'd like to leave a lasting impression.  That and I have a dual capacity clip for it...

Just for the kicks of making another semi-gun related post, Pheadrus reminded me of a very nifty system I wish we could establish here.  It's called "The Idiot System".  How it works is that everyone is given one of those little plastic kiddy guns and a dozen suction-cup darts with some kind of adhesive tips.  Any time you see someone doing something stupid on the road, you shoot their bumper.  When a cop sees a car go by with like 8 darts stuck to the back, it's an automatic idiot-ticket.

As soon as I can find a way to prevent idiots from taking advantage of the system I'll start a "movement"....

...remember, I live 2 miles away from the toughest part of the city.  Even people living in ghettos in other parts of the city are scared of so. Phoenix.  I/2 are ilegals and the other half meth addicts.  Can't drive worth a shaZam!, can't speak engrish, but CAN make tasty rolled tacos

Here, a kid with a .22-short single-shot is justification for calling out the SWAT teams and helicopters- but even with government-guaranteed-disarmed victims, the criminals don't generally go that lightly armed.

But, it's a free country- and in a free country, I suppose you can leave your quarters inadequately armed if you want to. I just pity any innocent women or children that might depend on you for protection, not knowing...  hopefully someone nearby will have something with more stopping power.

Well put!  My regular carry piece is a .45 but due to size limitations I carry a KelTec .32 at work.
